Thanks Dave! This seems to work well... printing does work here and there are none of the odd display issues seen in the Firefox version. I'll stick with this version until they get the printing stuff worked out with Firefox (I do a good bit of printing).

Hardware / Re: Anyone successfully using Brother HL-5470dw?
« on: February 12, 2016, 03:45:35 am »
Two suggestions... First, print to file and compare the output Postscript file for both the working and non-working scenarios.
Second, try varying the font used for printing text format (printer object properties, tab 'Text Format', font option).

Interesting. I printed a small TXT file using AE to file with word wrap on and off using your PSPrint driver with the default font set. I will attach the file and results which are radically different. Maybe you can make sense of it...

Yeah...I'm starting to see some weird things here...in particular...if I print using PSPRINT driver and embed fonts in my print job, the output is garbled, now this is ONLY with a simple TXT file...however, the full text prints on a single line.

I've seen this with TXT files. Here, if I turn off word wrap, the file prints fine. I only see the single line printing if word wrap is on. Never thought it was a print driver problem... should report this to Alex.

Applications / Re: Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 for eComStation and OS/2

In the folder created when you installed OpenOffice, there is an 'Extras' folder. The 'Extras' folder has 3 scripts: one for loading code high, one for loading code and data high, and one for unloading from high memory. Just run the one you want to load OpenOffice into high memory (I only load code high because of past trouble loading code and data high, but I may try that again soon). You only need to do it once until you either want to change it, or install a new version.

Installed here over 4.1.1 with no troubles (so far). It seems to be a bit faster than 4.1.1.

Applications / Re: WPS Class List Color?
« on: December 05, 2015, 03:25:40 pm »
I can't say that I 'know' this, but I believe the blue color indicates classes that have been replaced as opposed to just extended. If you notice, at the top of the window at the right there is a line 'Replaced with'. It appears that only the blue classes have anything written here (at least all the ones I looked at).

Thanks Paul! I am able to scan using my HP Photosmart C309a multifunction printer using both the network and USB connections with this version.

I also use WPSWizard with no problems, and I like the eye candy too. Able to use highmem to load the wpswizard DLL's high without any apparent problems as well (eCS 2.2). Hope you can get the source for all of this - maybe it can be continued...

Applications / Re: Lucide Gsview and printers error in Lucide or not
« on: November 27, 2015, 03:10:36 pm »
I haven't used Lucide in a long time, but I remember problems like this. Alex Taylor created a PS printer driver which corrected some problems printing from Lucide, get it here: http://www.altsan.org/os2/printing/psprint-30_905.zip. It has other enhancements over the standard IBM driver as well.

You could also try the newer qPDFView (ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/qtapps/qpdfview-0_4_16-GA.zip) that will display more types of PDF files, but you need to have the CUPS print system and QT libraries installed.

If you are using eCS 2.1 or later, there is a file save/open dialog replacement available, but not installed by default. From a command prompt window type 'focdlg' (without quotes). You will see instructions how to install or uninstall it. It does add create folder capability to just about everything.

 Martin,

  I can confirm your finding:

Config 1: works
Config 2: doesn't work
Config 3: works

Didn't view for very long (about a minute), so no idea how stable it is

Paul,

Thanks for the update - it works fine here. Hopefully more people will be successful with CUPS 2 using this version. One minor thing... when I unzip here every file is marked read-only....

Pete,

I checked my install and it is definitely all updated (I always delete the old before installing the new CUPS). It turns out I lucked out in how I installed. I first unzipped CUPS 2.0.3, them unzipped Cups-filters-1.0.71. CUPS has the testprint you show, but CUPS-filters has the one I show. Since I installed CUPS-filters second, I ended up with the one that works. No idea why they both have a testprint and they are different...

Edit: The CUPS 2.0.0 and CUPS-filters 1.0.61 packages both have different 'testprint' files as well (the same 2). I wonder how many people tried out CUPS 2 and failed to get a test print because of the order they unzipped the files....

 Pete,

It works fine here.... maybe the archive got corrupted during download? Testprint is a text file... what does the contents of your 2.0.3 version look like? Mine says this:

#PDF-BANNER
Template default-testpage.pdf
Show printer-name printer-info printer-location printer-make-and-model printer-driver-name printer-driver-version paper-size imageable-area job-id options time-at-creation time-at-processing

It also has 351 bytes of EA's. Maybe yours were lost during unzip?
