guzzi,

Yes, I thought so myself - but something is different between your system and mine. Here CUPS 2 works fine with everything I've tried (don't have SmartSuite though), both socket:// and usb:// connections (using the usb.exe I posted) along with Alex's latest PSPRINT driver.

One other thing I wonder about... I use YUM extensively, and have UNIXROOT=C: in my CONFIG.SYS. I also installed CUPS on C:. Do you have a UNIXROOT set? If so is it set to the same drive that CUPS is on? Not sure how it would work if not installed on the UNIXROOT drive... or if it matters.

guzzi,

Not sure if it makes any difference, but instead of 'localhost' I always use '127.0.0.1' in my output port settings. Might be worth a try...

guzzi,

What printer driver are you using? Make sure you copy the CUPS 2.0 lpr.exe to C:\TCPIP\BIN\cupslpr.exe and add C:\cups\lib to your LIBPATH if you are using the cups.lpr output port.

 No problems here so far....

Neil,

In your OpenOffice folder there should be an 'Extras' folder that has a couple of scripts for setting the dll's high and low. You can also manually use highmem -u *.dll to 'unmark' the dll's from loading high. My understanding is that only code should be loaded high (highmem -c *.dll). It has worked well here so far.

Then, I need to extract a usable log file.

Okay, two log files (I have no idea if they are usable, they don't tell me anything, or I missed it).

CUPS_HP_C4180.zip contains logs when trying to print to my HP C4180 USB connected printer. That just sits there doing nothing.

CUPS_HP_D110a.zip contains logs when trying to print to my HP D110a WiFi connected printer. That stops with a complaint that the file is not a PDF file.

I have found that using the SED.exe from the Netlabs RPM gives the 'not a PDF' error when printing to a socket:// connection. The one that comes with eCS 2.1 and 2.2 works fine. Which SED are you using?

Try the USB.EXE I just posted. The one with CUPS 2.0 does the same thing here - nothing happens (although I get a message 'waiting for printer to become available' - or something like that).

 guzzi,

The attached usb.exe from CUPS 1.6.2 is the newest one that works here - might be worth a try. I hope Paul doesn't mind me posting it....

I see the HTTP_STATE_WAITING error in my logs even when printing works. Probably harmless... maybe related to the 'Internal Server Error' issue?

If you want to use Base, you have to have Java. Otherwise you can live without it. It would be great if they got rid of the requirement.

I tried deleting my OO profile (C:\Home\Default\OpenOffice) and started Writer. After going thru the initialization routine (add name) now I consistently get a crash and *.trp file when I go to Tools->Options->Java. The *.trp files all look the same. Can also now start Base without a crash, but after closing it there is a Java process still running that needs to be closed. After closing the Java process, Quickstart (if it was running) crashes with a *.trp file. Something isn't quite right....

You could also just type: YUM INSTALL NETLABS-EXP

No luck with Java and OpenOffice here either. I get the same hang when I try to create a database using Base. No *.trp files or POPUPLOGS either. It worked here in the first beta.....

Anybody got Java to work with it? Here if I go to Tools-> Options -> OpenOffice-> Java my computer hangs and I have to reboot. The README implies it might work, but then says everything that requires Java will not work, so it is confusing. I was able to get Java to work with the first beta....

Hardware / Re: Motherboard woes

I also have a motherboard (MSI H55M-E33) with Intel i3, H55 chipset and 4GB RAM that otherwise works well with eCS, but I cannot get SNAP to work. I have tried X850 and X600 PCIe cards and the built in Intel video, all of which work fine with Panorama.

@OS4User:

I installed the SMP debug kernel (supplied with eCS 2.2) to try to get a comport log for you, but I could not boot with Panorama! It would hang at the exact same spot SNAP does, right when PMSHELL is loaded. Booted to command line fine. I have this log if you want to see it. It ends with hlt in 'vman'. Not sure if it is worth trying SNAP now...

Did you install poppler? If you did, try YUM INSTALL poppler-qt.

Try YUM INSTALL libstdc++6 poppler     (note the '6')
