Happy New Year.  I have 2.5 hours left for midnight here.
Time for a glass of wine :)

https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-5.4.86-20210101.zip - produces sound with ac97 and hda hardware in Virtualbox.

Will try on real hardware this afternoon.

I tried "uniaud32-linux-5.4.86-20210101.zip " on the ArcaOS 5.0.6 VM on W10 host on the TP Yoga 14.
No Trap. It produce sound, but I lost control of the master volume tool.

Applications / Re: IBM and VisuaAge C / C++ runtimes

Hi Ian

That's a good question. I always wonder which should be the right location for runtime DLLs files. Because there not exactly development tool to be located in "development" but we usually don't have a "runtime" directory for it.  Hobbes also locates runtimes DLLs on "/pub/os2/dev". So, maybe... I guess... that it should be ok to move it to "sw/dev/vacpp/" in your case.

Hi Alfredo.

As an alternative, I can help you create a WarpIn installer for that application, or at least we can try :)

Applications / IBM and VisuaAge C / C++ runtimes
« on: December 29, 2020, 05:30:01 pm »
Hi

I want to try to organize and upload the IBM C and VisualAge C runtime files in one file. This is just to allow people to find only some missing DLLs, nothing amazing.

I'm doing it based on this list: http://www.edm2.com/index.php/VisualAge_C%2B%2B_Run-Time_Libraries

I want to focus first on each release with the latest fixpack.  So this is my list for the moment:

Code: [Select]
VisualAge C++ 3.0 + Fix 8
07-29-1997 185,342 CPPOM30.DLL
07-29-1997 39,633 CPPON30.DLL
07-29-1997 83,732 CPPOOB3.DLL
07-29-1997 46,618 CPPOOD3.DLL
07-29-1997 62,776 CPPOOM3.DLL
07-29-1997 644,810 CPPOOU3.DLL
07-29-1997 174,493 CPPOS30.DLL

C/C++ Compiler 3.6.5 + Fix 2
11-08-2000       44,281      CPPRDI36.DLL
11-08-2000      299,825      CPPRMI36.DLL
11-08-2000       75,393      CPPRNI36.DLL
11-08-2000      285,955      CPPRSI36.DLL
11-08-2000       57,077      CPPRWM36.DLL
11-08-2000       34,875      CPPXM36.DLL
11-08-2000       45,571      CPPXM36I.DLL
11-08-2000       34,554      CPPXS36.DLL
11-08-2000       43,045      CPPXS36I.DLL

VisualAge C++ 4.0 - Fix 1
03-16-1999 221,237 CPPRSI40.DLL
03-16-1999 235,849 CPPRMI40.DLL
03-16-1999      55,549 CPPRNI40.DLL
03-16-1999 1,437,780 CPPOBI40.DLL
03-16-1999 203,776 CPPODI40.DLL
03-16-1999 1,997,664 CPPOUI40.DLL
03-16-1999 56,430 CPPRWM40.DLL

I thought that IBM C 3.6.5 latest fixpack was #2, but I found this file: cpprmrs.zip with different time stamps and sizes:

Code: [Select]
02-07-2001  299,623    cpprmi36.dll
02-07-2001  286,010    cpprsi36.dll

I'm wondering were did "cpprmrs.zip" showed up since IBM C-C++ Fixpack 2 is dated 2000-12-20, and if this is the latest versions, and if there was also a 2001 version of the rest of the DLLs. Where there some unlisted fixpacks that are not availble on IBM's site anymore?

If you know about any newer version of the others VisualAge runtime DLLs, or any other comments, please let me know.

Hopefully the same fix will get 4.19.x working, I'll know shortly....

https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.19.163-20201228.zip - works in Virtualbox with ac97 and hda hardware

Version uniaud32-linux-4.19.163-20201228.zip is working fine on my Thinkpad L420.
- No Traps, sound and volume control working.
For the moment it is a keeper for my Thinkpad L420.

Hi

Today I tested the "HP Gaming Headset H320GS".

Audio output is working, and recording also work (tested with DTAPE), even that it records the audio too fast (I sound like a chipmunk).

I have a question about Wim's Audio Recorder. I noticed on the readme that you need to run it like "record /a1 /b16 /c1 /f44100" (it works fine that way with my laptop internal mic), but how an USB mic should be tested with "Audio Recorder"?

Hi
Testing appreciated: https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.14.202-20201227.zip

I tried it on the Thinkpad L420.
- No traps on boot, but no sound.
Let me know if something else can be tested.

I returned to "uniaud32-linux-4.0.9-20200816.zip" to get sound back.

Hi Gordon, thanks.

I had found some magazine issues that are hosted on the Internet Archive:
- Personal Systems Magazine
- IBM Personal Software Magazine

There are some missing on the list, the ones that do not have links.

Can you please let me know which issues do you have, and check which one we don't have already digitized and online?
After that we can think what to do next.

Hi

Robert, I sent you an e-mail. If you find any material of this thread, please let me know and work out to ask permission and put it online.

I was able to find again SC26-4583-00 and SC34-4399-00. Both are linked in .BOO format. I'm asking for permission to republish those just in case.  Here are the links again: http://www.edm2.com/index.php/CUA

Setup & Installation / Re: Dual (or tripple) booting ArcaOS and FreeDOS?
« on: December 26, 2020, 01:30:04 am »
Hi

After producing the USB flash drive with the commands, you need to put the ARCAOS.ISO file into "\ARCA_ISO\" of the USB pen drive and rename that file "ARCAINST.ISO". Did you do that?

If it still do not find the "\ARCA_ISO\ARCAINST.ISO" when the USB pen drive boots, it may some issue with some USB driver.

Hi.

Ok, when I tried to create a bootable USB stick on my current system, Windows 10, I got a failure.

The full log follows.  Is there anything else I can try, such as running this inside ArcaOS VM?  Should I bring this to the Arca Noae ticket system?

Note, I am running this in an admin window.

On my experience creating the ArcaOS USB pen drive installer in Windows 10 is that you have to run the procedure to create the stick two times.

The first time will wipe the USB pen drive in some way, it asks you to unplug it and reconnect it. Windows 10 will ask you to format it, don't do it.

Run again the procedure and on the second time it will recreate the USB flash drive correctly.

Are you getting to the second time?

Regards
