Hi Dave

Sorry to ask and don't add anything to the discussion, I will like to include this card to the OS2World wiki supported hardware.

Is the back port for power using the SATA power cable? It is required, right?

Do you have any more hardware information like the chipset that it uses? Is there any hardwareID on which it is recognized on pci.exe?

Setup & Installation / Re: Dual (or tripple) booting ArcaOS and FreeDOS?
« on: December 24, 2020, 04:22:45 am »
Hi Johann, nice to see you around this forum.

I have zero experience with FreeDOS on real hardware, but I have tried some Windows and ArcaOS and eCS dual boot.
I have this articles that may give you some hints of the process:
- Windows 10 ArcaOS Dual Boot
- Installing eComStation 2.1 and Windows 8 with Dual Boot
- Centos 7 ArcaOS Dual Boot
- Installing eComStation 2.2 and Windows 10 with Dual Boot

I even had tried as an experiment to create a VirtualBox VM with ArcaOS and Win98 dual boot. It was successfully for me and it helped me to learn it and test the steps on a VM before trying it no real hardware.

Hi Mauro

I have some questions:
1) Did you get any other sound on the OS/2 Warp 4.52 VM, like playing wav files? Is it working?
2) Can you put the /V on the UNIAUD32 and UNIAUD16 on the config.sys, to see if gives you any information on boot .

My experience with Warp 4.52 on VirtualBox had been more using the SoundBlaster driver. I would have to try with UniAud.

Hardware / Re: What happened to the hardware database on ecomstation.ru?

Hi David

I noticed on some other of your posts that you installed ArcaOS on real hardware and you are doing fine.
Do you want to report the hardware you are using so I can add it to the wiki.

I have this article that explains how to extract the pci.exe and lsusb report.

Where do you find the time?

Actually that is a funny thing. With a wiki you can go little by little on a page/article and use little chunks time, that combined can turn into a big thing. It is not that I took long hours of my time in one shot, it took little chunks of my free time that combined into a bigger thing.

And some incomplete articles on the OS2World wiki are like my journal. When I try a new or old OS/2 software, I took some seconds to take a screen shot and create a very quick article about it on the wiki.

Hi Dariusz

I give it a quick try on a ArcaOS VM. The VM is running on a Win10 host with an SDD drive.

- Can it be possible to release it as 1.19? so it can not get confused with 1.18z
- Is it possible to share the source code to update the github repository? - once you produce the final release.

It seems to me that tthe program runs fine (diskio and debug)
But when I try to create an output file this way, I get this error?
Quote
[C:\HOME\DOWNLOADS\DISKIO_FIX_1]diskio-debug >debug.txt

SYS1808:
The process has stopped.  The software diagnostic
code (exception code) is  009B.

Is there any other way you recommend you get the output file?

Might want to reboot with 256 colours and test.

I tried it as you told me. Set the colors to 256, rebooted, the desktop looked 256 awful :) , run OS/2 command line full screen with "VESADLL=vesa_all.dll".

OS2Billy gave me the same error:

Drilling Billy demo V1.12 Apr 14 1997...
Unable to set videomode nr 65535.
Unable to set videomode nr 65535.

Hi

vesatest.exe was not working for me.

I set the OS/2 Full screen session "VESADLL=vesa_all.dll" on environment as suggested. vesatest is now working showing that full list with numbers.

os2billy.exe says:
Quote
Drilling Billy demo V1.12 Apr 14 1997...
Unable to set videomode nr 65535.
Unable to set videomode nr 65535.
Just like it was reported.

Thanks for you help. This hacking is out of my knowledge, let hope something can be worked out.

Hi Tellie

If it is not much to ask, can it be possible for you to share the makefile you use on ArcaOS to compile this? I may learn something from it. What else did you changed on the original source code to compile it?

Hi.

Just some progress on the sound. I tried it on real hardware (Thinkpad L420) and sound is working. I don't know what is happening on the VirtualBox VM.

Thanks Tellie.

Its good that you compiled it on SDL2. It is running here now.

Sound is not yet working on my side. I'm not sure what is missing.
If I select "Redefine Keys" on the game menu it quits the tame  (faster than the quit option).
I'm experiencing the same issue on quit.

General Notes: I had installed with ANPM  SDL2, SDL2_image and SDL2_mixer (from Netlabs-exp)

Hi

I had go back to "SDL-1.2.15-20140930.zip" Tux Football now freeze the VM and Top does not want to kill the app.

I'm thinking it may be also a problem with the libc, gcc or STDCPP libraries, like something broke with newer libc libs.
