Open a command line window, change into D:\APPS\APACHEOPENOFFICE.4\PROGRAM\ and start soffice.exe or swriter.exe from there. Probably this will tell you which prerequisite you missed to install.

Here are measuring results with two systems using GBit Realtek chips and latest ArcaNoae drivers -
TCP
Code: [Select]
{0}[p:\util\netio123\bin] os2-i386.exe -t 192.168.1.114

NETIO - Network Throughput Benchmark, Version 1.23
(C) 1997-2003 Kai Uwe Rommel

TCP connection established.
Packet size  1k bytes:  93590 KByte/s Tx,  113283 KByte/s Rx.
Packet size  2k bytes:  69820 KByte/s Tx,  113431 KByte/s Rx.
Packet size  4k bytes:  62117 KByte/s Tx,  97513 KByte/s Rx.
Packet size  8k bytes:  67462 KByte/s Tx,  97814 KByte/s Rx.
Packet size 16k bytes:  57835 KByte/s Tx,  114030 KByte/s Rx.
Packet size 32k bytes:  64066 KByte/s Tx,  99869 KByte/s Rx.
NETBIOS
Code: [Select]
Netbios mit Power settings auf lowest
{0}[p:\util\netio123\bin] os2-i386.exe -n NETIOSRV

NETIO - Network Throughput Benchmark, Version 1.23
(C) 1997-2003 Kai Uwe Rommel

NetBIOS connection established.
Packet size  1k bytes:  2518 KByte/s Tx,  4272 KByte/s Rx.
Packet size  2k bytes:  4349 KByte/s Tx,  66834 Byte/s Rx.
Packet size  4k bytes:  6067 KByte/s Tx,  8063 KByte/s Rx.
Packet size  8k bytes:  8520 KByte/s Tx,  9570 KByte/s Rx.
Packet size 16k bytes:  10436 KByte/s Tx,  10524 KByte/s Rx.
Packet size 32k bytes:  10912 KByte/s Tx,  10952 KByte/s Rx.
This all with Power settings of the ZyXEL GS1910 switch which is in between to maximum power saving (ActiPHY, PerfectReach, EEE). With standard setting (wasting most power) at least TCP is even little faster. Not tried with NETBIOS.

UDP is terrible bad. No clue if this is an driver issue or the ZyXEL slows them down. But as I hardly use UDP I do not care.

Another test transferring a 2GB file over ftp gave (Peter Moylans ftp server and Netdrive ftp plugin) an average transfer rate of about 57MByte/s. No clue if the network limits this value or the ftp software.

Rtgnda is a last resort. It is OLD, and incomplete, but it does come with source code, if you are into things like that.
And constantly trapped my system. Since removing RTGNDA this system works since years. At first with PCI RTL8139 card and now with Multimac and Realtek 81xx GBit chip.

Source code - if you really like to dig into assembler this maybe a playground for you. I checked if EOI is implemented correct for SMP but then I gave up.

Tanks Doug. Seems Airboot does not like long names. XWP automatically inserts the complete name. In my case more than the 11 chars that AirBoot can handle. Short them to 11 chars max. did the trick.

One problem I have is with 'Reboot to partition...' and AirBoot. Seems xwp 'setboot /IB...' does not work with AirBoot but with IBM Bootmanager only. Can anyone confirm this? Workarounds?

AFAIK, all modern HP printers need HPLIP for CUPS
SOHO devices like the HP Officejet Pro X476dw still support PCL5c, PCL6, PDF and Postscript Level 3 emulation. Sounds like they should work with standard psdriver and laserjet drivers. Someone tested such device?

for single user 'normal' tasks
That would need the 20-30W I stated with modern Haswell processors and current motherboards. Should it be 50W, far away from 300W. Even if all your cores run at full speed it will not take more than 150W worst case for current office PCs. Of course if you install a high end graphic card this value could easily be doubled.

More 'exotic' setups like RAID5 SCSI with old power hungry disks are a different thing of course.

l USB disks that take power from the host and maybe the odd couple of smart phones that are charging and you have gone into the realm of marginal power - not nice when you are trying to work.
Thats quite easy to calculate. Current consumption is limited to 500mA per port and standard. So take f.i. 8 USB ports with 0.5A * 5V gives all in all 20W max. :-) Yeah I know there are some devices that do not follow the standards. And I know with USB3.0 900mA are allowed. But you do not have 8 USB3 ports and 8 high power devices connected at the same time, do you? Looking at the math there's no need to fear about 'some' extra devices on USB ports.

more HDs then I would go for a 600W unit.
I disagree. If you do not want to plug in on of these monster graphic cards you probably never will draw more than 200W. Problem with these 'high' power models is they wast lot more energy in the normal use case - a eCS system including HD probably will not take much more than 20-30W most of the time. Estimated, have to measure in the next days. Additional HD less than 10W.

I use a 350W Enermax as the 300W is not available anymore. Instead AMD I've Intel Haswell (not sure if AMD support in ACPI is at same level as for INTEL), instead WD green WD black (performance and durability reasons), instead Crucial Samsung 850 PRO (same reasons as for HD), instead MSI Asus (I wanted the additional Display Port), Kingston instead G Skills RipjawsX. But that's all personal preference.

COM Port - although my Asus does have one I can't get it to work with debug Kernel. Not sure if it's my fault setting up debug kernel or something is not initialized in BIOS. It works when eCS is booted of course. Let us know if it works for you.

Also note, that if you try to do something with the files that have a semi-colon in the name, using 4OS2, it doesn't work properly. The normal command processor doesn't seem to mind.

Properly worth to open a ticket at http://trac.netlabs.org/4os2 with a simple testcase.

Unfortunately I can't get SNAP to run on this Asus H87-Pro. I hoped it would run in GRADD mode but this Intel HD4600 does not.

Moreover even my plan B - insert a Matrox G550 - does not work. It hangs/stops at the same place where the CPU integrated HD4600 fails. PMSHELL does not come up. After the Scitech driver messages when the screen should switch to graphic mode nothing happens.

I tried all PCIe sockets and BIOS settings I found without success. Still can not believe why an extra PCIe graphic adapter does not work but have to give up after days of frustration :( Seems to be something special in this H87 chipset.

After years working with two 1920x1200 displays I can not switch back to single monitor mode anymore. Any suggestions for a Linux distro with usable desktop? No fancy transparency windows or rounded corners or washed out fonts. I hate these W7 annoyances with thick boarders which hide the useful information behind (the reason why they must be transparent but why did MS made them so think in the first place?) and switched back to classic (pre-XP) look and fell as much as possible. No big symbols and icons only but text description in menus. Simple clear and easy to use for a long time OS/2 user. Suggestions for desktop managers I should look for? Cinnamon?

Ok, I bought the ASUS H87-PRO. Surprisingly eCS2.2beta installs without problems. Of course after disabling 'Secure Boot' in BIOS.

- All four cores of the i5-4690 are running. Or more precisely sleeping most of the time :-)
- Graphic works with Panorama. Have to try SNAP again. Installation with SNAP failed.
- LAN works with Multimac Realtek driver
- AirBoot was installed on the first HD which is a 2TB WD black. eCS is on the second HD a 250GB Samsung SSD.
- Can't get IBM Boot Manager to work even when removing the 2TB disk.
- 3175 GB from the 8GB are detected by eCS
- Reactor (why the hell do they choose such a silly name for a CPU?) widget shows less then 30°C - seems to work. This never worked on my current system.
- There is hardly any noise from the 350W Enermax Triathlor in the Enermax StaRay enclosure. But didn't any stress test till now

More to come...

Did you ever look at weasel? AFAIR you only have to put the emails into forward directory and wait till weasel picks it up. Or start the sendq.cmd to immediately trigger sending. Think such procedure is even described in the bundled documentation but never used by myself.

Of course this needs to setup a complete email server (weasel) but that's not to hard as even I've running it since years ;-)
