Hi Greggory,

Attached is a screen grab of what I see here.

Hi Andy,

That is the version I tested and it is no-go with SCSI.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Andi,

Unless there was a radical change between v1.51 and v1.55 I very much doubt that it will support SCSI drives and tapes.

If you could attach it here I will give it a try.

I know this is a strange request but does anyone know of a S.M.A.R.T. monitoring utility that runs on OS/2 and shows the S.M.A.R.T. data of SCSI disks and tapes.

SmartMon does on nearly all OSs but not OS/2.  SmartCtl appears to be for IDE/SATA drives only.  Those are the only two I know of for OS/2 but there might be others around from way back when SCSI disks and tape backup were the norm.

Sound does not work in the port of vbox that we have for an OS/2 host.

For those interested here is the post from Lars and I'm sorry it is an 8 core processor.

Subject: Re: UEFI board and OS/2 - solved

Thanks to all who responded.

I now got it to work correctly. For the record, I have a AsRock Extreme4
MOBO which means it has an 8-core AMD CPU and an AMD SATA controller.

1) in order to properly boot the eCS 2.2 DVD I HAD to set SATA mode to
"IDE compatiblity" and ONLY enable DANIS506.ADD in the preinstallation
selection menu.
In short I had to disable OS2AHCI.ADD in the preinstallation selection
menu. That allowed me to finally see my harddrives during the
installation phase and therefore to install to them.

Trying to boot the eCS 2.2 DVD with "AHCI" enabled is plain impossible.

2) After installation I could leave "IDE compatiblity" mode enabled
during normal operation and use DANIS506.ADD and DANIATAP.FLT. However I
decided to use AHCI for the improved performance.

3) I therefore remmed DANIS506.ADD and DANIATAP.FLT in config.sys and
added OS2AHCI.ADD instead. However I HAD TO specify the /!r switch to
prevent the driver from resetting the SATA ports.

Now everything is fine. Note: even my 8 CPU cores work just fine.
I'll now try and enable NCQ.

Lars

Over on the comp.os.os2.misc newsgroup Lars Erdmann outlines his installing of eCS on an Asrock MB with 6 core AMD processor.

Another thing Andi, what does the firewall log on your router say, assuming you have activated it?  This would give much more information about what is going out - and coming in - on your network.

Hi Pete,  I don't know if you have noticed but Qupzilla has problems with nested bookmarks as well which is a killer for me.

The reason I raised the question of the license was because of the  whatsnew.txt file Andreas posted which said, in part:

Quote
14/07/2010 Yuri A.Prokushev
- resource dll build fixed
- GPL version

It does say GPL not LGPL  but it appears that is a mute point now.

Is what Eugene is doing - linking in code and not supplying the source for that code - even legal under the GPL licence?

Martin we already have something that will do that - warpcenter.  The only difference is that it is either at the bottom or top of the screen.

I use it to launch all the common programs from Describe through various file managers to a standard set of utilities.

Tom, the big problem with that the device has to be x86 processor powered.  There is NO way that OS/2 or eCS will run on ARM based units - that is unless some people get together and rewrite an awful lot of code.

Thanks Dave.  Attached is another one after installing the .xqs files and copying doscall1.sym to os2\dll.

You say that exceptq is old but it is the latest one I could find on hobbes.

The next thing is to find the markexe you mention and try that.

I have finally managed to get a .trp file from one of our multi core boxes - attached below.  This is from Firefox 17.0.5 b2 and is the result of repeated attempts when saving an image using MB2 and 'save image as...'  As I said the image is saved but the browser just closes without warning.
