Applications / Re: ODIN Revisited
« on: June 20, 2019, 06:53:38 pm »
Hi there

I tried to do something on the wiki. I made it table like, with only games for the moment:

Sadly, I don't have the full netlabs odin database, only the "snapshots" from archive.org.

What it would be great is try to update the table testing those games withe latest ArcaOS and Odin version. You all are free to post any testing on this thread and I offer myself to go updating the wiki.

Hi

I started to check some of the Odin articles and information about running apps.

I would like to run Quake III Arena with Odin. I'm reading this HowTo, but he points to some Mesa3D files I can not found. (mesa3d-31.zip, mesa3d-51.zip ).

If someone knows or remember something on how to run Quake III Arena with Odin, please let me know.

Applications / ODIN Revisited
« on: June 14, 2019, 06:59:27 pm »
Hi

Just checking some other thread it makes me wonder if we should try to revisit some of the old Windows 32bits programs that used to run on ODIN and check how are they running today. Maybe today testing those apps can be easier with Virtual Machines, back on the early days of ODIN,  I remember I used to test some Windows apps with more constrains since I didn't want to screw up my OS/2 working configuration on real hardware and had bandwith limitations to download software.

Today I tried RealPlayer 8, to remember the old days, maybe it is not very useful now. But it was fun to see that the installer already worked, and also the program. I just run "pe rp8-setup.exe" and it installed, "pe realplayer.exe" to run the software.

I also remember that mirc used to work, but I didn't have the old ones, I tried the latest v7.55. It also installed, but it crashed with some error when I tried to run it.

Maybe it can be interesting to revisit some old Win32bits games.

Any Win32bits software that you remember that used to work, or maybe that you still use?

Regards

Hi

Is this the software?
Was it run with Odin? Since the site says it runs on W95, W98, W2K, XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10, I guess it runs in 32bits, so maybe something can be tried with Odin.

The makefile was written for either CSet or VAC 3.
But you are using VAC 3.65. You are on your own but it surely can be fixed. Also looks like your DPATH does not contain all necessary paths for the VAC 3.65 compiler/linker.

Hi Lars.

Do you mean that I'm using a wrong version of nmake.exe or that the icc compiler should also give problems? I still do not get to the icc compiler on the make process.

I'm checking the DPATH. I'm using the "C:\Ibmcxxo\bin\setenv.cmd" file to set the environment.

 SET DPATH=%CXXMAIN%\HELP;%CXXMAIN%\LOCALE;%DPATH%

I tried including the /MSG directory on DPATH, since the cppcfe36.cat file is there.

 SET DPATH=%CXXMAIN%\HELP;%CXXMAIN%\MSG;%CXXMAIN%\LOCALE;%DPATH%

It didn't work, I also tried the path with the same results.

I think I will rebuild again my development VM before trying again.

Hi

I haven't tried it in a long time, but I remember mkisofs command line tool can create ISO files.  (cdrtools2-2.01.01a04.zip), but to be honest I don't know if it will be the proper tool.

Doug, please post back with your results.

Hi.

I'm trying to compile the OS/2 Toolkit 4.5 WPS samples as a learning experience.
I had started with the "car" sample first.

I just did a quick "nmake car.mak >out.txt" and I got this errors:

Thank Rich for the reply. With your information I will document it on the EDM/2 wiki.

I notice that you released under the Apache license. Do you have a repository with the source code?

Hi.

Where can I get more information about rwIni ? Is it your Alex?
I want to include its documentation and functions on the EDM/2 wiki.

Multimedia / Re: SYBA USB Stereo Sound Adapter: Good or bad?
« on: May 28, 2019, 02:44:59 pm »
Hi again.
I installed the USB Audio 223 on my laptop, where USB audio had worked before, and the SYBA adapter is working fine. It must be a USB Audio 1.0 compatible device.

On the device's website it says: "Compliant with USB Audio Device Class Specification 1.0"

Please, let us known here your testing to complete the info :)

Is the driver working USBAUDIO.SYS  or USBAUD2.SYS  ??

Hardware / Re: M.2 Question
« on: May 24, 2019, 02:12:16 pm »
Thanks Valerius, Sigurd.

I wrote this on the wiki: https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/M.2_and_OS/2
Let me know any suggestions you may have.

Talking about the M.2 form factor, does anybody knows if there any wireless adapter working on this kind of connector? I'm guessing if the same chipset supported on OS/2 (GEMAC / GENMU) will also work on M.2, but I think it is kind of unlikely to find it, because the supported chipsets may be old now.

Hi Valerius.

So a M.2 NVMe card will not work on OS/2/ArcaOS for sure.
What about a M.2 SATA card? Is it supposed to work like a normal SATA HDD ?
