Hi

It is good to see that the incoming directory is moving, but I found a different issue now.

1) Some files on the incoming directory had been processed and are now on the right place, but the "Replace" part is being ignore and the new and old file and being maintained. Did the "README.TEMPLATE" changed?

2) Also the readme template is missing. The pub/incoming/README.TEMPLATE reference on this page gives you a dead link.

I cannot even properly download 2 files (the binary and the text file). It always fails along the way and I cannot rename or remove the broken files. What a lousy piece of sh*t. Nothing works anymore. And it used to work without a problem.

Hi Lars

Do you have problems upload or downloading? I notice that you uploaded "usbdrv233.zip" fine, but the .txt is an empty file.
ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/

Don't let the frustration to win over you. Hobbes is under some changes these days as far as I know.

Download of usbdrv233.zip from Hobbes incoming works. For a special OS/2 Mozilla version, you have to Ctrl+drag the https link to a local folder. Trying to save it via context menu won't work for the combination Hobbes and that OS/2 Mozilla version.

You can also use this link: Hobbes incoming.

Then the usbdrv233.txt file gets visible. Download works as well, but it has 0 B.

About the rename option in incoming: That used to work only within a limited time frame, I seem to remember that was a few hours only. Note that the browse, download and upload facilities are currently being worked on, as Martin already wrote. If you have already written an email to the maintainer, that's all you can do for now. He usually answers.

The failure is intermittent. It would attempt to upload usbdrv223.txt but it failed half way. Likewise it will hang when displaying directory content in a FTP client and eventually get it done. It's completely unstable. I never had these problems in the past and it's not a question of some server script failing.

Hi

I had noticed that some files that are being asked to be removed (with the upload template), do not get removed from the page, but are marked as 0 bytes (so they can not be download).

For example:
https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/?path=%2Fpub%2Fos2%2Fsystem%2Fdrivers%2Fvideo

"gendac_s3.zip" was replaced by "S3_GenDac_patch_1994-05-10.zip". "gendac_s3.zip"  still shows on the page but with "0 bytes".

Hi

I think I noticed something similar. On my FTP client when I try to upload two files it says :
- Response: 421 There are too many connections from your internet address.

Maybe the ftp upload and number of connections was tighten on the server.

I only see this error if I try to connect from my OS/2 guest and the Windows host at the same time (in an act of desperation, placing the files in a shared folder) which is ok and can be expected. But I have these data transfer problems even with only one FTP client connected.

Clearly Hobbes is still having problems.

I tried to upload a zip and txt pair (ft2v136).  The .txt file uploaded successfully, the .zip aborted and ended up a zero-byte file, which defies all attempts to rename, remove, or replace it.

I guess the new server is not ready for general use yet.

Yes, I had the very same problem.
Using NFTP in passive mode seems to improve the situation but does not completely rectify it.
Alex, can you try NFTP in passive mode and see if that improves the situation ? I'd be interested in the results.

Site not found.  Try

I used to use Netdrive.  However, I have not uploaded in a while to know if it still works.

My upload works on 2020-03-16, but the old file was not deleted (replacement was requested) and the .txt file is broken. Both files were placed correctly. Seems that I will have to contact Curtis again, but I plan a new release for in about two weeks.

Hi

It would be desirable for me to have the feature of being able to search on hobbes inside the "long description" too. I'm including the filename of some drivers on the long description, so it would be great for someone to search that.

For unknown reason, Hobbes tends to break FTP connection leaving zero length files.

Hope they will fix that.
