Change file "Type" property in batch
« on: July 23, 2015, 10:56:53 pm »
Hi.

I want to change the file "type" property on some OS/2 files but I want to do it in batch instead of doing it one by one. (Check image)

Is there any utility that will allow me for example, send a command to remove to blank the "Type" property of the *.dll files in a directory. After that to send other command to put the "Dynamic Link Library" type to all the *.dll files. ??

Any tools out there to do this?

Regards

These file types are not .FILETYPE EAs. Via setting that EA you can override the previous behavior of existing files (after a WPS restart), but your inis will grow. The limitation of the ini size for keeping the system stable is one of OS/2's weak properties.

The default behavior of DLLs is defined in the WPS classes. (I just don't know which class applies here.) A better idea is to extend that class to get the wanted assignment. Therefore one needs SOM knowledge.

Thanks for the reply Andreas.

If anybody knows any tool to do this kind of change in batch (several files at once), instead of changing each other one by one from the GUI, please let me know.
