1. CD-Drive lettre shifted with USB install |
|
|
| Hello, I've Warp 4 installed (with fix 15) on a portable PC on the C-drive. I also have a data partition D. My CD-drive is E. After installation of the USB-basic & MSD drivers, my cd-drive lettre is shifted to G: ! How can I set it back to E? Lines added in config.sys during installation of USB basic & MSD drivers : (USB hostcontroller = Intel 82801DBM) BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBEHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS /REQ:USBUHCD$,USBOHCD$,USBEHCD$ BASEDEV=USBHID.SYS BASEDEV=USBMSD.SYS Who can explain me these ?

There is something wrong..... it should be like this;BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBEHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBD.SYS /REQ:USBUHCD$,USBOHCD$,USBEHCD$ BASEDEV=USBHID.SYS BASEDEV=USBMSD.SYS /FLOPPIES:0 |

[b]BASEDEV=USBD.SYS /REQ:USBUHCD$,USBOHCD$,USBEHCD$ BASEDEV=USBHID.SYS BASEDEV=USBMSD.SYS /FLOPPIES:0
Hello,OK you are right ! I made a typing error ! I had BASEDEV=USBD.SYS /REQ:USBUHCD$,USBOHCD$,USBEHCD$ But with adding /FLOPPIES:0 I do not have the possibility to acces my USB-floppy drive ! I've forgotten to mention it, but this was THE reason why I isntalled USB support ! Can you explain me why there is 3 times BASEDEV=USBUHCI.SYS ? and also one BASEDEV=USBEHCD.SYS and the USBOHCD$ in the BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS /REQ: line? Regards, |

[b] BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBEHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBD.SYS /REQ:USBUHCD$,USBOHCD$,USBEHCD$ BASEDEV=USBHID.SYS BASEDEV=USBMSD.SYS
I have found a part of the answere : When you look with pciscan, you find some usb host controllers. Well you have to enter as mutch as it is there ! For the moment I am looking how I can shift back my CD-driver letter to E. With entering the USBsupport, there is a new device E (and sometimes a F) created. It shift my cd to E (or F). I want to have first my CD and afterwarts the USB-devices. (remember : I have also a USB-floppy) Regards, |

| Sorry, but I don't think there is a way. The drivers involved (USBMSD and whatever allocates fixed drive letters) allocates the letters in a defined order, and, I don't know of a way to change this. LVM can change the partitions on the hard-drive, but, I don't think it works on the USB drives. And, I'm sure it won't work on the floppy or CD. This general problem (adding drivers/partitions changing the CD-drive letter) is why I decided a long time ago to use RESERVEDRIVELETTER to set the CD drive to X on all my systems. I've even modified my OS/2 install diskettes to do this.

6. Re:CD-Drive lettre shifting is simple ... |
|
|
| ... with the following entry in your CONFIG.SYS: RESERVEDRIVELETTER=R With this entry your CD-ROM will be set to S: and kept there !! |
