1. NFS NETWORKING NIGHTMARES! HELP!

I'll try to describe the situation as simply as possible:
I have NFS installed on various OS/2 Warp4 machines connecting to a UNIX server in a manufacturing environment. I'm mounting 2 network drives on every machine. I want the machines on the production floor to have read-only access to one drive and read-write to the other drive. I have a machine in my office however that I want to be read-write for BOTH drives. Here are the commands I am using in the NFS section of the TCP/IP configuration menu:
-user -group G: unixserver:/readonlypath
-user -group H: unixserver:/readwritepath
Presently, the network admin has the "readonly" directory completely read-only so basically no one can write to it. He said he doesn't think he can do what I want just by changing users and groups in the NFS commands. He said he thinks he can allow me to write to the "readonly" directory if I give him the IP address of the machine I want to have access. Unfortunately, I'm using DHCP and don't know how to find the current IP address of the machine to run a test. I hope I've described the problem adequately and if so, what is the easiest way to accomplish what I want to do? Thanks, Marty

There are a couple ways to get your IP address. At an OS/2 Command prompt type "ifconfig lan0" (assuming your interface is the first lan card). I think you can also use the DHCP monitor program that came with warp4. I don't remember the name of the exe, but it usually had an object in the system setup folder (or somewhere around there).
The tricky part comes if you get handed a different IP from the DCHP server later on. It is possible to use user/group ids to control read/write access. The unix system has to have your group/user set for write. This will only work of course if you have an user/group id that is different than the readonly machines. ..It's possible, but perhaps not on the systems you're working with. (More political than functional) ..And it is not possible to change access by remote connection.

THANKS! The ifconfig command allowed me to get the IP. We ran a test and were able to give my machine read-write access while keeping every other machine read-write. I now have a fixed IP on my machine. THANKS!
