Does anyone have a "How to setup Gimp and Xsane" ?
(Gimp-2.2.8 and Xsane-0.992-OS2).
Have found some old articles, but they refer to older releases.
Found this after a tip from RobertM re Tesseract, definitely on topic, but I haven't had time to go through:

Yes, I've studied that site. Xsane complains about missing some files that are not included
in the packages, one being GOBJECT2.
Also, it's necessary to install XServer and it would be nice if someone could give some info
about what version to use and how to set it up, only the parts required for Gimp and Xsane.
Please try to follow the readme step by step.
Maybe I have forgotten something, but you should at least not have gotten this GOBJECT2
message if you followed the steps. GOBJECT2.DLL is part of the prerequisites
of gimp-2.2.8 (glib-2.6.5.zip in this case) which you need to install to get things going.
It's mentioned in the readme that comes with gimp-2.2.8.
Sorry that it's quite some work. to get all the files installed.
Unfortunately also the links for the files don't work anymore because
hobbes has changed the layout. You have to search for the files first
to get working links. (You could also use FTP for hobbes)
I hope you succeed at the end. Don't hesitate to ask, if you get
further problems
Good luck
Franz
You know there is the Gimp package set up as a wpi install by Alex Taylor at
http://users.socis.ca/~ataylo00/os2/utils/index.html (http://users.socis.ca/~ataylo00/os2/utils/index.html) towards the bottom of the page.
It does require HOBLink or WeirdX as Xserver.
