Post by: BigWarpGuy on 2009.01.11, 00:49:27
pureSilicon's 1TB 2.5 inch SSD surpasses magnetic density for the first time
http://www.gizmag.com/puresilicon-unveils-1tb-25-ssd-solid-state-storage-surpasses-magnetic-density-for-the-first-time/10719/ (http://www.gizmag.com/puresilicon-unveils-1tb-25-ssd-solid-state-storage-surpasses-magnetic-density-for-the-first-time/10719/)
Could one install eCS on such a 2 terabyte SSD?  ???

Should be able to - with a waste of 1.5TB - eCS will limit the drive to 512GB if the drive has an bootable/installable partition.

Any drive larger than 512GB is best used as a secondary drive with NO boot partitions on them.

Hi Robert

Did i not read a post about possible cures for this "max 512Gb" problem somewhere on os2world forums?...

Aha! Here you are, check this http://www.os2world.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,63/topic,1406.msg9916/topicseen,1/#new

Looks like no need to waste 1.5Tb of drive space now  :-)

Regards

Pete

Hey Pete, you are correct. Hadnt caught up on that post when I made mine, and the last I heard was it would take some changes to the file system, storage drivers and kernel.

Thanks for that catch/find!
