Title: TIP: CoolPreview for Firefox
Post by: RobertM on 2009.03.28, 20:54:36
Hello all,

For those looking for some neat add-ons for Firefox, but having problems with the more complex ones that come with Windows binaries, or a heavy reliance on Flash that just wont (yet) work on OS/2, I ran into this:

CoolPreviews for Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2207)

This add-on creates a little mini-icon next to any link you put your mouse over. Putting your mouse over the icon loads a preview of the page the link points to. Pretty neat, and seems almost fully functional under OS/2 & FF3.0.7.

The only part that does not seem to work is the "Google/Yahoo Image Search CoolPreviews Image Slideshow feature" - it requires a newer version of Flash for the full "bells and whistles" slideshow... and the "alternatively, you can view a basic slideshow" feature does not seem to work on my install. The link previews work fine though.

Just as a note: Read the Privacy Policy and ensure you are happy with it's terms before using.
