Title: Frustrated... Samba smbd.exe deamon not staying loaded...
Post by: NNYITGuy on 2009.05.24, 08:02:47
Hello,

I am using eCS v1.2R. Clean install.  No PEER or NetBios loaded nor configured at install of OS.  Tried using from v3.0.31 to the current v1.0.04 aka v3.0.34.  All seem to have the same prob of smbd.exe not staying up.

I have checked and verified all libc that should be in ecs\dll...  I have verified UNIXROOT and TMPDIR...  I have looked in POPUPLOG and every other place that I can think of for getting smbd up.  NMBD is up and never had a a problem.

Help!?!

The frustrated,
NNYITguy

logging is your friend :)

start smbd with debug logging:
ie smbd -d 5

And see what the last few lines tell you.  Most likely it is a problem with the guest account.

If you IRC - go to irc.freenode.net channel #netlabs and look for Smedles (me), Herwig or _diver - any of us can probably get you running quick smart.

Herwig in particular will be interested in the failure if you used the .wpi to install.

Cheers,

Paul.
