Hi all,
I'd like to suggest a new bounty but I can't find the way to do it.
The bounty is for a port of the linux "forcedeth" driver, which is a driver for the ethernet interface of the
NVIDIA nForce chipset (see http://www.hailfinger.org/carldani/linux/patches/forcedeth/).
This driver is very much needed because there are a lot of motherboards based on the nVidia chipset, and there are no drivers for the on-board network interface. Genmac author said that the approach he uses to adapt windows drivers cannot be uased for this kind of driver. Also he tried to build some kind of wrapper for the linux driver without success. The only possibility is to do a real port of the driver.
I am willing to initialize the bounty with a small amount of money.
Please le t me know... I am without connectivity on eCS and thus forced to use linux right now :-(
Bye
Cris
Cris,
I've created the suggested bounty, Forcedeth ethernet port (http://www.os2world.com/content/view/14612/71/), and as well I've added contact form (http://www.os2world.com/component/option,com_contact/task,view/contact_id,8/Itemid,99999999/) to both add and claim a bounty.
Also both the sub-pages Suggest Bounty (http://www.os2world.com/content/view/26/52/) and Claim Bounty (http://www.os2world.com/content/view/27/53/) has been updated with link to above form.
Thank you Kim,
I added 14 dollars to the bounty. I know it's not much but that's what I can do for the moment.
Bye
Cris
We have to start somewhere and if we could get 20 more NVIDIA nForce chipset hardware owners to add $14 each - well, then it's a really interesting sum to be cached in when the bounty is claimed!
Also let me know if there is anything you want to add or change; or we just pick up information as we go along from the supporting thread (http://www.os2world.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,63/topic,199.0/).
