Title: eCS 2.0
Post by: Quique on 2010.01.28, 22:45:34
do we have a realistic release date, I mean month or a very good approximation?
Before summer?

Just need to know if to partition and do a re-install now or wait for the GA.

It was supposed to be out at the first of the year but it has been delayed. I am in the same boat you are...driving me crazy...I hope it is out soon.

I am hoping 2.0 comes out soon. I do not have a software subscription. I had it on my Thinkpad T23 but it is old and not working. My desktop with it on it gave up the ghost last year. Instead of installing what I have, I want to use 2.0. I want to use eCS 2.0 when I assemble my desktop.  8)

any updates to current eCS 2.0 GA situation, another month and half have passed since original post.
can anyone in Mensys or SS confirm something.

I understand it takes time, bug fixes but what is holding it up? Flash 10 intergration, more bug fixes?

Some one reply please, keep us informed regulary.

Thanks for all yr efforts!
Title: Re: eCS 2.0 or 1.5 as an intermediate release?

Even if there is an intermediate release as version 1.5, it would be some thing for us non-software scribers.  8)

^ Exactly. I want to test it out on my netbook but the only CD I still have is 2.0RC7 which has a bug in the last stage of the installer on this machine and my new desktop.

If it is Flash 10 holding up the release, I'd be willing to leave that out. But I have software subscription, so I'm getting Flash 10 whenever it comes out. If I had an entitlement to 2.0 and was waiting for the release, I'd want them to hold off until Flash 10 is ready, then include that.

Flash is very important at this point to many web services. I have plenty of Mac and Windows users who have tried my eCS systems, and basically that is the biggest limitation our platform has. Quite a few users would like a computer from me, even if it runs eCS. I'd say perhaps a quarter of internet users rarely use a feature of Windows or Mac that is not on eCS, except for Flash.

My understanding was that eCS 2.0 GA would not be held up by Flash 10.  I have not heard one way or the other whether Flash 10 would be included with eCS 2.0 if it were completed prior to GA being ready.  eCS 2.0 was expected to be released in December and at that point Flash 10 was not predicted to be even close.  At this point, I don't know which will be ready first... I guess the race is on  ;D

The eComStation site indicates that the 2.0 release is imminent.
"The date of eComStation 2.0 release is coming."
