eCS 2.0 Silver
eCUPS003.wpi from Feb 08, 2010
Installed on Drive E Root
I just took the install defaults
After wpi install, it tries to open the browser (Firefox v 2..0.22) with
http://localhost:631/
I get error
==================================================
! Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:631
===================================================
I shut down and rebooted - got the same error.
I tried another machine eCS RC5 - same result.
What am I doing wring?
Hi.
Open "D:\cups\sbin" directory.
Run cupsd.exe.
Connect http://localhost:631/
You see the HowTo-eCUPS site(http://svn.netlabs.org/ecups/wiki/HowTo),please.
Thank you for the help - it worked.
But I'm not sure what happened - the Warpin install created an object in the Startup folder called
eCUPS Daemon
This calls program CMD.exe with parameters
/c Detach E:\CUPS\sbin\cupsd.exe
Is this startup object wrong? How should I fix it so that it starts automatically?
Thanks,
Hi jjurban
Is the drive that you installed cups to the boot drive?
I ask because I have only recently discovered that the startup object (eCUPS Daemon) works fine when cups is installed to the boot drive but not if it is installed to a different drive.
If/When I discover the cause I'll try to rectify that problem. So far the only pointer I have to what is wrong is a response to a ng post that suggests it is an "environment" problem but no suggestion of a "cure".

Pete

Me too, I'm not able also to start cupsd.exe.
I am using the cmd file.
If the syssleep function is not used, it ends without permission. :D
/*cupsd.exe start cmd*/
Call RXFUNCADD 'SysLoadFuncs','REXXUTIL','SysLoadFuncs'
Call SysLoadFuncs
'@echo off'
rc=directory('e:\cups\sbin')
Call SysSleep 12
start' /min cupsd.exe'
exit
Peter,
in the cups mailinglist i wrote what do do. add a working dir and all is ok :)

Silvan
Hi Silvan
Thanks for that - trouble is it leads onto another question :)
How do I set the Working directory for the object created using Rexx?
The install script for eCUPS003.wpi contains this line to create the object:-
CREATEOBJECT="REPLACE WPProgram|eCUPS Daemon|<WP_START>|EXENAME=cmd.exe;PARAMETERS=/c detach $(1)cups\sbin\cupsd.exe;OBJECTID=<eCUPS Daemon>;"
I cannot find anything indicating how to add a Working directory to the above line :-\

Hi, diver.
I read that and It succeeded.
Thanks.
Peter,
you can add a STARTUPDIR= at the end of EXENAME=cmd.exe;PARAM.......
as this is the setupstring for the wps obj
