Pretty straight forward.
On my linux box, i needed to make below adjustments
Enable IO APIC, and didn't touch any others. (My installation has NAT as default network for VM's)
After installation, I did a few tests with large memory, and no matter how much I assign, it will only use 3.5G (or 3.2 ~ 3.7 depending on what's enabled/ disabled/ mobo and stuff)
Well, 2G was considered big in the days..;)
And it runs really smooth on a VM, now I need to think if I'd like to install over a regular laptop or a desktop.hmmmmm

I'm sure I read somewhere that 32bit operating systems can only address a max of 3.5Gb RAM
On a system with 2GB RAM eCS2.0 chugs along very well so I've not seen the necessity to enlarge RAM and test the Max myself :-)

Yup. That's very true.
Since it is a 32 bit OS, there is a hard limit.
But you always want to see for yourself, what would happen under those conditions..
As a matter of fact, due to the split memory layer of OS/2, making use of more than 2G is also quite a challenge as well, so this is just a "Hmmm, let me see what would happen to my monitor if I pull this plug" kind of experiment..
Yes, the monitor turns off..

Well, technically, your system will address 4GB, but some portion of that will be used to map hardware (such as video card, sound card, etc). So, the amount you end up having available will be determined by the memory mapping requirements of your hardware. Inotherwords, if (on a 4GB system) you have a video card with 512MB of RAM, you will lose 512MB of that 4GB just for the video card. And so on...
