Here is a nettop without an operating system. Would it be possible to install OS/2-eCS onto it? ??? I like the idea that it comes without an operating system. It is nice not having to pay for an OS that one is not going to use. 8)

If you had looked at http://www.xtreamer.net/Ultra/ (http://www.xtreamer.net/Ultra/) you should have been able to answer the question yourself.
My answer is - maybe, when it becomes available buy one and see.

Thank you for the link.
"We hope that anyone who wants a very capable yet portable PC will find the Xtreamer Ultra to be a rewarding experience and a worthy investment both as FULL HD streamer as well as a Windows 7 or Linux based computing system" If it can run Win 7 or Ubuntu, why not eCS(?). 8)

Is that a serious question? There are hundreds of machines aorund the globe that run Ubuntu and Win7 but will never be able to run eCS in such a way that all hardware features are supported. This includes in particular WiFi and xATA but extends to things like graphics and (wired) networking chipsets... not to mention the ever-failing ACPI with its dependencies to basically every hardware.
My conclusion is:
Grab the list of the chips that were soldered into/onto the Xtreamer (if you're lucky) and then check if all that stuff is known (proven) to be working with a specific RC/GA of eCS. And then -if it appears to work- hold your breath and say a prayer that the manufacturer didn't change the internal chips for saving 0.001 cent per board built ...without telling anyone. As usual.
Cheers,
Thomas
