Title: USB Mouse don't Click
Post by: miturbide on 2011.05.15, 00:41:51
Hi

Does anybody found a problem with eComStation and a USB mouse when the mouse don't click?

The mouse move around the pointer without any problems, but the click buttons do not work at all. Haven't tried a PS/2 mouse to see if the problems remains.

Any hint on where the problem is? I had tried changing the Amouse USBMOUSE.sys for the one in OS2/boot, but works with the same results.

thanks

How many buttons? If it's one of the ones with a gazillion buttons, have you tried another USB mouse, or remapping buttons and testing? I have seen some where the button assignments seem odd and are (under Windows) controlled by their own custom mouse driver.

It is simple USB two button mouse (Disney Pixar Lighting Mcqueen mouse). I have it in a dual boot machine. In Windows runs fine. I had tried other USB mouse (IBM Scrollpoint Pro mouse) with the same results.

It is the first time something like this happened to me on eCS - OS2.

Hi Martin

Just saw this in an os2 ng and thought it may be related to the problem you are seeing:-

"ECS 2.1 installed MOUSE.SYS, with the AMOUSE USB support driver. The
mouse cursor would move, but buttons were totally ignored. Changing
from MOUSE.SYS to AMOUSE.SYS (as it should have been), makes it work
properly."

So, looks like eCS2.1 gets it wrong during install.

Maybe you want to check whether mouse.sys or amouse.sys is in use there.

Regards

Pete

I had REM the MOUSE.SYS and enabled AMOUSE.SYS.

The boot process stops while loading "USBRESMG.SYS". The cursor keeps blinking but no activity from there. Ctrl+alt+del does not work. (neither the keyboard turns the light with Caps lock)

..so. I changed my BIOS config and disabled USB legacy mode.

Them it start to work and the mouse start clicking again with AMOUSE and USBMOUSE.SYS.

So, I start tweaking eCS 2.1, add /SMP and /APIC on ACPI.

I boot the stuff again, it recognize the 4 cores... and it gave me an error ...

"SYS1201: The device driver X:\ecs\system\Amouse\USBMOUSE.SYS specified in teh DEVICE stament on line 31 of config.sys file was not installed. Line 31 is ignored
Press Enter to continue...."

guess what.. the USB keyboard is not recognized to be able to press enter.  :D

Hi Martin

From my experience of the still not-working-very-well ACPI drivers I suggest you change /APIC  to /PIC and see if that helps.

Pete

Hey Martin, What M.B. and  processor are you using with 4 cores? I'm looking to upgrade a box but M.B. selection is poor here in Mexico.

Thanks,   klipp

Hi klipp,

Idon't know what Martin is using but I have now built 3 boxes based on the Asus M4A78LT-M LE boards with an AMD AthlonII x4 640.

If you dig back through the site there is a thread about installing eCS where I gave details and pics.  The only problems I have are, the inbuilt lan doesn't have drivers and Snap is running in VBE mode.

I'm testing eCS 2.1 on a :

It used to work fine (with some video issues) with eCS 2.0 with SATA compatibility mode. But now Im trying to get it stable with AHCI and without USB Legacy support.

Hey, Thank you ivan and Martin. Sorry for being "Off Subject" on this forum. Seems about the only M.B.'s I have access to down here are Gigabyte, some Intel and many "Off Brand" M.B.'s that I feel are questionable. But knowing what M.B.'s with multi-cores are functional with eCS is really helpful -- Thank you both. I may have to "Pay the Piper" and order out of the U.S.
