Title: Isostick is a USB flash drive your computer thinks is an optical drive and eCS?

It is suppose to be seen as not just an USB but an optical drive.
Would eCS work with it? It is not made, yet. The company is looking for investors.

IsoStick. http://blog.elegantinvention.com/ (http://blog.elegantinvention.com/)
Here is the site of the IsoStick.
"There has been a lot of misconception about the functionality of isostick. All the optical disk magic takes place in the isostick itself, it doesn't matter if you're in the computer's BIOS, an OS, anything -- whatever you plug it into will see both an optical drive and a flash drive. Absolutely no software is required for this. The software mentioned is a convenience for configuring it, but all settings are ultimately stored in config files on the flash portion, which you can edit however you please. I hope this clears up some confusion about the isostick, and I hope you like it!"

It would be neat to see if it would make installing eCS onto an netbook easier. :) Once it is made and if they have a lower priced version, it would be neat to try eCS onto at least one of my netbooks.  8)

Kickstarter. The article indicates they have achieved the funding they wanted. At $225 each (per another site), the price - IMO - seems high but I am hoping they will have a lower priced version.

There used to be a system called U3 which did the same thing.  It appeared as a CD and a MSD on windows, never worked on anything else until you bypassed the CD part.

U3 is also used by Sandisk on a lot of their USB sticks. The sticks will generally work as a standard USB MSD on systems that will only support that, or will also load the CD functionality on systems that support such.

just to report that I got the Zalman ZM-VE200...

IT CAN BOOT THE eCS ISOs !!! ;-)

The problem is that on some machines that I tested it, they cannot see this as 'cdrom' on the boot ;-(

but my main desktop (Asrock with UEFI boot firmware) the boot menu showed it as CDROM and I manage to boot the first iso of the eCS 2.1 , could not manage to install, as of the ACPI trap-d crash...

Also, note that needs a Y USB cable , to provide more power (eg from external psu), as some systems cannot provide enough power to this...

The price seems cheaper than what the isostick is suppose to cost. I am hoping the isostick comes in a lower price that is quoted.  8)
