Title: RTL8169SC
Post by: ivan on 2011.10.07, 17:16:33
Does anyone know of an OS/2 driver for the RTL8169SC based 1GB network cards that actually runs the card in 1GB full duplex?

We have a client that is considering changing to OS/2 but wants to keep the hardware they have.  We have checked their systems and everything is compatible except the RTL8196SC based network cards which they want to keep.

I think all three drivers run full duplex.

OK, I'll bite, which 3 drivers?  The one in the rtgnda13 package doesn't  unless I'm missing something.

I am sure he is referring to the multimac drivers... there is support for Intel, NVETH, and Realtek.  The Realtek drivers are the least mature I think but the 8169 does show support but I don't know if the driver is quite complete, though I think it is close with active development paid for by Mensys.

I use the RTL8169 driver here and it performs flawlessly.

I'm using eCS 2.0.

Here's a grab of the MPTN window;

Will this driver work (http://ru2.halfos.ru/guru/ACER.Aspire_One/rtgnda13.zip)? is there a newer one?

Thanks Martin but that was the one we tried.  All we could get out of it with the cards they have is half duplex and slow - nothing like what I would expect for a  GB network, more like a 100 MB and much slower than our GB network.
