Title: Dell Color Laser Printer 1320c and eCS?
Post by: BigWarpGuy on 2007.10.16, 23:05:56
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=222-8624 (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=222-8624)
It connects either by USB or by ethernet. It has a low price; 249US$. Could it work with OS/2-eCS?    ???

Hi

Very doubtful - drivers are for Windows only and there is no mention of Postscript.

Regards

As it uses a "Host Based Printing System" it may not be likely. But it is possible, if it is made by a manufacturer that either (a) has OS/2 drivers (like some of the Lexmarks still do) or (b) sends a certain type of raw data format that an existing OS/2 printer driver can output.

So, I'd agree with Pete's "No" without knowing more...

Would CUPS or eCUPS work with it?

It would be neat if one could use it with ODIN. http://odin.netlabs.org (http://odin.netlabs.org)

It would have been nice if Win32Prn had continued to be developed.

CUPS might work with it, but the printer isnt listed. You'd probably have to know who actually makes it for Dell.

The list (of supported printers) is here:
