Title: DHCP server search at boot
Post by: lpino on 2007.10.25, 22:42:21
I use a WIFI conection and I need DHCP to get the IP from the source. The problem is that I get a timer at boot time (60 secs) and the system tries to connect to a DHCP server. How can I get rid of that???. It is really annoying!

Change the DHCP start wait time to 0 (zero) seconds.
This way it won't wait for it at startup but still wil keep trying to connect, invisible in this case.

To change this : Local system ---> Install/remove ---> Post-installation Tasks ---> Tab DHCP

Even if your OS/2 is not configured to obtain an IP address automatically, you can always perform the procedure manually by typing:

start  /min  DHCPCD

Evidently, the minimized window will run the OS/2 client daemon in your os and you will get your IP address "on the fly."

Best!

You can edit C:\MPTN\BIN\SETUP.CMD > open in texteditor. Change -d value to 0.
Like   dhcpstrt -i lan0 -d 0

Nope, I don't have it and no clock either. Maybe, since I configure the DHCP after the system was install through the TCPIP configuration, I don't get that tab. Can anyone confirm this behaviuor?

^ Depends what version of eCS you have, some test versions have the tabs missing :|

ECS RC1. Still as I understand I could just REM the line in the startup.cmd and that would solve the problem.. right?. If I still need to call it, I could just do it once I'm in the system. I really don't care if I'm connected right away when the system starts.

You shall not REM anything, just change the -d value to 0 (zero).
