Title: Mesa2 - Abandonware?
Post by: fvanzeveren on 2012.05.14, 23:26:30
Hello

I am i search of a light and powerfull spreadsheet for OS/2 to run on a old machine (Pentium I 120Mhz)
I found Mesa2 in demo version on the Hobbes repository. To unleashed the full power of it... a license code is required... But it looks like the company behind this product vanished.

So, is it considered as abandonware? And if so, where could such a license be found?

Regards

François

At least in USA, where the company was located, abandonware is not legal to distribute. As far as I know, the owner of the company died, and his wife holds the rights. People close to Mensys were working to save Mesa/2. I don't know how that worked out.

Is it the same Mesa developed by SunDial Systems?

If that is the case the President and chief developer, Randell Flint, passed away on October 5th 2007.
