Supporting thread for the OpenWengo port (http://www.os2world.com/content/view/339/71/) bounty. The original and old bounty thread can be found here (http://www.os2world.com/cgi-bin/ultraboard/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Read&BID=83&TID=31&SID=).

Look, there is another open source VoIP and video conferencing (H.323 and SIP) program. It is called Ekiga, which used to be known as GnomeMeeting.

ZAP is an Open Source SIP client based on Mozilla.  I have worked a bit on it but don't know MMPM/DART programing.  I'm trying to work it out but if someone that knows MMPM or DART programming looked at it there are 2 or three files that would need to be built, the rest is just Mozilla code.

At some stage on play on looking into http://www.sflphone.org - this uses portaudio which we don't currently have for audio in/out - but shouldn't be too hard to implement something.....

Nothing new since Dec. last year on sflphone. Dead or Alive?

The Mozilla based client and Ekiga don't look that bad.
The OpenWengo seems to be very active, but we may need an updated Qt port to 4.x.
There are enough other applications around that have already moved to the Qt 4.x versions.
Some of the stuff used by OpenWengo has already been ported.

Basically it doesn't matter which one is ported, as long as it works and the project base is active and not dead.

Is anybody still working on any applications mentioned in this threat? If there is no interest at all in this bounty, can it be closed and the funds diverted to other, more promising projects? (I am one of the sponsors and would like to see my money go to active bounties)

OpenWengo is dead but the successor is QuteCom:
http://www.qutecom.org/ (http://www.qutecom.org/)

It's still using QT4 and therefore the QT4 Bounty is practically bound to this one.

as QT4 is being worked on there is a slight chance to get this done also. all depends if we get enough sponsor units for the QT4 port.

Hi

I found out that OpenWengo changed it name to QuteCom.

Visit its page at: http://www.qutecom.org/ (http://www.qutecom.org/)

this is a known fact :) Jürgen already stated it in april 2009:)

as soon as Qt4 is finished we may look at it closer. which does not mean we will work on it.

for me personal all depends a bit how the sponsoring of Qt4 goes further. if it stays like it is at the moment (hardly new sponsor units), i'm not that motivated to port anything i don't need.

regards
Silvan

Hi Silvan, I going to add 100 EUR within the next couple of days so +1% (Edit 1: Just placed the order for the QT4 support...).
I hope some kind of motivation will be there otherwise this has to be done using other hardware (AVM Fritz!Box Router,...).

Edit 2: I re-checked QuteCom but it seems to be dead....no update in 12 month. If VoIP (SIP) should be a target we have to look again for a working project, that can be ported. This still excludes Skype.

The only think I currently have in mind might be something attached to Jabber /XMMP or what the protocol is called. I will look into this area in about 3 month because I'm working on a project which plans to use a settop box for IP-Telephone conversions (big maybe....later even video conferencing). It's an embedded Linux system using an STMicro Chip. First tests will use cameras that stream out H.264 encoded video so for OS/2 and eCS USB supporting the Video Class interface are most likely needed.

This is not entirely true - if you check the Trac site: http://trac.qutecom.org/timeline you can see recent activity on QuteCom.

But I agree that there are probably other (better?) options to get VOIP support on eCS.

fwiw - I'm looking into Qutecom

For the audio support, I'm hoping that winmm.dll from odin will work ok...

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul,

I'm wondering if it would be helpful to have the QtMultimedia module ported...

Not for Qutecom - but definitely for other Qt multimedia apps

fwiw the code for Qutecom 2.2rc3 is building, and I've fixed a few crashes already.

I'm now getting a SIGSEGV from the audio initialisation code - i guess using the odin winmm.dll isn't going to work after all.

I'll most likely add an OS2 audio stub just to try and get the application running - if I get to the point the app seems to run, then I'll either try and add the required audio code myself, or try and find someone who already understand the mmpm api :)

Google Voice has a QT4 tool that might be interesting:
