Title: BMTMICRO - PMVIEW site access troubles
Post by: Dave Palmer on 2008.04.18, 23:42:44
Darn, I don't know where to post this or go for more help.

At some point in time I have lost the ability to access either www.bmtmicro.com and/or www.pmview.com

In the first case I wanted to register PMMAIL useage, in the second case I was looking for pmview support.

In both cases my system (Warp4, Firefox) times out and responds with a "taking too long to respond" error message.

I've switched to a different CPU and used my wife's XP and get the same result with Firefox and IE.

The only thing in common between the systems is our DSL (2701HG-D Gateway) with Qwest.

I've posted on the Qwest user pages, with no success.  Other users are able to connect to bmtmicro.

My modem has factory defaults.  The modem firewall is default.  Neither system is on a home network.  Each is simply a wireless connection to the dsl modem.  The XP system uses a Qwest USB modem, and the OS/2 system connects via PCI/Ethernet to a Buffalo AirStation (wireless).

Could I be on a blacklist with them?  How do you solve an issue like this??

Suggestions will be welcomed!!
Thanks
Dave

Hey Dave, I'd suggest you look to your hosts file and see if there are any entries on there. I'm not sure where this resides on XP or eCS, but someone here should know.

I registered at the PMView forum.

I registered for the forum. It is neat that they have an OS/2 section.  ;D

I took your advice and deleted all hosts entries and rebooted.

Get the same symptom - 'connecting to bmtmicro.com' and then a long wait and then the error message.

It's frustrating.  Something specific to that site is stopping me from connecting.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Dave!

Just trying to guess: as you said you got the same trouble with WinXP and Warp4, could it be that a hardware firewall (perhaps built into the DSL modem) is preventing you (for whatever reason) from accessing those websites?  Can you browse (and edit) your modem settings?  Generally most modern DSL modems can be managed from a browser-based interface.  Perhaps you could try to temporarily disable the firewall, if you have an easy way to do so, and see if this can get these websites loaded.

Good luck!

Hi Dave,

Try a few things...

Hope some of that may help.
