Hello
I´m trying to install netware client to my eCom 1.2.
But now the computer hangs when 3com 3c90x driver is loaded.
error messages: Frame YS0318: MESSAGE FILE MSM:MSG CANNOT BE FON3com 3C90X Etherlink PCI Adapter
3C90X !!-os/2-LSL support moules not installed.
But I can´t get pasted it.
What should I press for getting the computer up agen? looking for something like "F8" under DOS.
Thanks
Espen

When the little eCS (or OS/2 depending on how or what updates have been done) appears in the upper left in little white letters hit Alt-F1. It goes by pretty quickly so you really have to be ready for it. This will bring you to a set of recovery options. If you have a recent archive you can restore one or you can press F2 and get to a command prompt where you can edit files like config.sys. Don't try a PM based editor as then WPS tries to launch and I generally have it hang... tedit is what I generally use.

Hi Andy
If you can already see what drivers etc are loading and know that the system hangs just after loading sddhelp.sys which happens to be the last line in the config.sys file where do you start looking for the cause of the hang?
I ask because my number 2 system shutdown without telling me about any problems last night and this morning simply hangs after sddhelp.sys when trying to boot.
Is the "load order" basedev, ifs, device, call/run? - and where do set, path, libpath, dpath statements fit into the order?
I guess that I should try looking at all the call/run lines - checking the files exist and are not corrupt?
Or, maybe, another device driver loads (or not) after sddhelp.sys but from an earlier position in the config.sys file? Is there a "load order" for device drivers?
Regards
Pete

My desktop used to do that and wouldn't go past. I checkdisked it with /F:3 from the install CD and that fixed it for me.

Hello
Well I got the computer booting agen, using 'Alt-F1' and removing the problem spot in config.sys
I have now gotten IP and IPX working so I can connet to my netware servers :)
I had to do a lot of googling but with the help from hobbs and a howto there on the subject I got it working with the ODI2NDI.0S2 driver.
But now I wounder what files and programs I should hunt down and install.
- I would like to use thise computer as a dos games computer so I need som help optimasing it.
- Manage my netware 4.2 server and 6.5 server.
- Manage my linux server so i need ssh client
- Now I use Norton commander/Midnigth commander to copy/move/edit files, what do I use under os/2?
- VNC client
- More programs that are fun to test?
Thanks

I've made a quick search on hobbes but don't find the howto. Would you please give me the filename or explain the steps you have to do?

I
Yes I shall trye. the hobbs file is here: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/h-browse.php?dir=/pub/os2/util/network/netware/ntwrtcp.zip
I tride first the odi setup. Removd my network card from os/2 setyp. And following the setup of netcfg.isa, autoexec.isa and protocol.isa. Just renamed the SMC8000 driver file that was just there with my 3c90x driver.
Thise workt for a ipx only net. By I wanted ipx and ip.
So I tride tcpnet.txt setup. There you have a working os/2 networksetup with ip.
Then you install the netware client. But when it asks for the networkdriver you give 'c:\IBMCOM\PROTOCOL\ODI2NDI.OS2' then when the network setup is finish you make a net.cfg file.
my net.cfg:
LINK Support
LINK DRIVER 3C90X
FRAME ETHERNET_802.3
FRAME ETHERNET_802.2
FRAME ETHERNET_ii
FRAME ETHERNET_snap
PROTOCOL IPX 0 ETHERNET_802.3
PROTOCOL IPX E0 ETHERNET_802.2
PROTOCOL IP 800 ETHERNET_II
PROTOCOL ARP 806 ETHERNET_II
PROTOCOL RARP 8035 ETHERNET_II
Protocol odinsup
bind 3c90x
Protocol Stack IPX
bind 3c90x
Protocol TCPIP
bind 3c90x
ip_address 192.168.0.14
ip_router 192.168.0.4
tcp_sockets 8
udp_sockets 8
raw_sockets 1
Thise is with a set ip adress and gatway. Havent tride with dhcpclient yet.
Start up the os/2 network setup program and select the 'Netware Requester' from protocol. Dobbel click on it and go true the setup. You must setup the the network card adress. I didt not now it. So i found that if you install IEEE 802.2 and look at a log file for network on bootup you will find it. Sorry can't rember where it is or the name.
Hope it helps.
I alsow installd nwadmin tools for OS/2. The work. But a bit slow....

- VNC client
File commander - LarsenCommander, FM/2 (GUI), FC2 (? CLI)
VNC - pmvnc103_ow.zip on hobbes

I shall trie them.
I'm woundering. I don't think the system is very fast.
Rigth now I have telned server, timed, novell client, nwadmin, 4os2 windows, text editor, programfiles, mIRC, command promt window and IBM Web browser.
Where do I look for optimasing? And is there a good 'About thise computer' program? Better than
'Hardware manager'
Thanks
