Title: Iomega home media Network hard drive
Post by: Raiko on 2010.01.07, 14:27:16
When I bought this Iomega 1TB Network hard drive I was told I could create
partitions on it, but I'm stuck. It is originally configured as one NTFS partition
and has some folders which I can read from eCS.
Would like to delete all and create 2 partitions, so does anyone know if it is
possible?
(The supplied software has no option for the task.)

Hi

I suggest that you check the specs for the device rather than relying on a salesperson wanting to make a sale.

If the supplied software does not offer any way of making partitions I would think the answer is that you are stuck with whatever the manufacturer decided you wanted.

Which particular Iomega 1Tb NAS is this? - Just wondering if there is alternative firmware/software software available like there is for the Linksys NSLU.

Regards

Pete

The software on the partition is usually a Mac or winblows software, which is useless to you anyway. I vote for deleting it. If you are able to read the HD then you should pass.

Download GParted ISO. GParted is a Linux partition manager, which can handle big HDs. The ISO is bootable so that you should be able to delete the NTFS partition and create partitions to your wishing.
