Was wondering if anyone is working on an update of PSI. v 0.10.1 refuses to connect to many of the newer servers.
-
I don't know. Have you tried SIM? http://blog.eros2.info/2007/12/sim-im-for-os2-update.html
Simple but although quite a lot of options and connect to different protocols.

Unfortunately SIM is having similar issues. There are servers which it will work with no doubt, but several of them will just fail to connect (unlike PSI giving a version error). It will absolutely refuse to connect to facebook's jabber server.

Same problem with Jeti/2 also?

Unfortunately the latest Psi isn't fully ported to Qt4 yet, and still depends on the qt3support library that we don't have yet.
Same story with Sim iirc

I don't know if this is any use to you in the IM field
Dr. Message is a native instant messenger application for OS/2,
supporting a wide variety of popular messaging protocols, like AIM, ICQ,
MSN, Yahoo, and others. This is a follow-on to Mr. Message, with a
completely new implementation of the protocols and the GUI.
Currently implemented protocol features:
* Log in/out
* Get buddy status
* Write / receive IMs (including leaving/retrieving offline messages)
* Add/remove buddies or groups to/from your list
* Set and retrieve aliases for your buddies
* Detection and reporting of idle time
* Full implementation of file transfer capabilities
If you have a major problem, please let me know so that I can start
tracing it down. I'm hoping that all stability problems and hangs on
exit have been solved in this release, so please let me know if I'm wrong.
You can get it here:
http://mamodeo.dyndns.org/mrmessage
As always, please read the ReadMe.OS2 file in the archive before using.
but it an OS/2 native app and being actively worked on.

Was looking for something which worked with chat.facebook.com (jabber) at the same time as AIM. PSI throws a version error when trying to connect and SIM just fails to connect.

Robert, have you tried MrMessage? It is built off of libpurple/Pidgin sources which do support Facebook chat so you're probably best off trying it.

Has he gotten facebook chat to work in DrMessage? There were two problems I was aware of. The first he fixed which was that ssl was required for xmpp in DrMessage (but facebook didn't allow ssl) and he changed that but the second was caused by the fact that facebook doesn't have an ID in the form of ID@facebook.com so that either a domain field would need to be added or a facebook entry would have to be added to the creation page alongside xmpp, aol, yahoo, etc.

Haven't used it since the older Mr Message versions (before he moved to the new libs). Unfortunately his site is down.

Yeah, I asked Marty. He is currently in the process of moving and setting things up again, plus his OS/2 box HDD is having more disk errors, so.. It may be a bit before he comes back online.
Anyway, the latest Beta of DrMessage I have does NOT have the Facebook plugin included. My mistake on saying it did support it. However, since Pidgin does support it, we will likely have this functionality as well. I've asked Marty to include it in the next build.
