Title: FFMPEGCA v0.9.7 and (v1.0.0 for test with Dave's ffmpeg build)
Post by: CDRWSel on 2010.11.01, 17:27:55
Hi everybody,
I just saw a "bug" at first install time (drrexx dialog opens for id3v2_exe error).
For those having got this error, ignore the message and proceed to FFMPEGCA configuration and update id3v2 path.
Then restart ffmpegca and it is ok

I updated v0.9.7 on my site to correct this as well as an user video profile (create/update) issue.

For those interested to test v0.9.8 preview which includes some corrections and video 2 pass enable option + mkv and ts  support and added default profile, please send me an email at address given under ffmpegca help
Cheers
Remy

Hello.

A CD-audio to mp3 problem was found.
For those having this problem, I suggest to get preview (used for test) of futur build which has several fixed bugs like those specified above. This preview can be downloaded from following link and it only has the exe file to be replaced.
http://remydodin.levillage.org/outils/v098_preview.ziq

To improve the quality, I would be happy getting feedback from those downloading the preview.

Part of the preview (exe only) which is above v0.9.7
- Added "2 pass" support (not supported input files: videos using mp4 codec and audio files)
- Added "Set 2 pass" for all files (except not supported files) - Usefull to only set 2 pas one time instead on each file (checkbox with red coutour)
- Added message to inform about ffmpeg pass number in effect for 2 pass process.
- 2 metadatas were miss-placed into FFMPEGCA log
- Added "Extra log" tracing returned information from ffmpeg (usefull in case of ffmpeg error). Log is reset at close time
- Selected "Extra log" entries can be saved into a temporary file
- Converting an audio file to video no more needs to go through [Advanced] option while defaults are now assumed
- Corrected a possible default ffmpegca audio bmp overlay
- Now, only current processing file appears selected into process list
- Added default profiles for "MKV" and "TS"
- Corrected User Video profile creation/update
- If file has subtitles stream and none is selected, " -sn" is now added to prevent ffmpeg mapping error
- Corrected a bug writing ID3 tags into MP3 files out of CD-audio
- With 'md' sub directories enabled, ripping CD-audio with cddb on and a valid Album title is found, files are converted into target directory "\"Album title
- Changed some ID3v2 tag update code

next v0.9.8 progressed a lot and a build should be available soon !
(it will be a next important upgrade of ffmpegca)

"It includes corrections (those included into the v0.9.7 fix and more) and new functions like audio join and video 2 pass process or video sharpness adjustment etc... "

I'm currently working on video join function and possibility to use VLC as external player
No planned date for next build (may be end of this year)

Some news....

I could implement VLC player as possible external player.
This gives now the choice between MPLAYER, KMP and VLC. Playing DVD from the list works too

Currently, I'm doing additional tests on video join function...

Some news...

I'm working on V1.0.0 which is currently under limited test
 * Added posibility to specify audio player for audio files instead of Video player
 * Added an auto detection if player is PM or CMD type to use correct start parameter (needed with some audio player e.g. !z
 * Added a "save / load list" option under RMB  (This may allow to load PM123 playlist into FFMPEGCA process list...)
  ....

note: I'm in contact with dave's (new ffmpeg build) and will add a comment on my site as soon it could be used....

Cheers
Remy

* Happy new year *

How to well start this new year ?
I put a "TEST" build of V1.0.0 which could be downloaded for those interested by testing it.

I updated the ffmpeg v1.0.0 WPI test package and added some changes.
( please use the link above )

I could not test Dave's ffmpeg for environmental raison but I could have some feedbacks which I hope make it run with Dave's build but I need more feedbacks.

For this, I added a ffmepg version checker and switch from libfaac to aac (libfaac isn't into dave's build and this isn't a problem). I added required extra option to make aac be usable (a restart may be neede after change of ffmpeg path/build version). Under user parms (advanced options) I add a button to allow ffpreset file selection for libx264 vcodec ( MP4, M4A, 3GP, 3G2 ) be added with the correct syntax into the user parms field. During test, I would suggest you to open the extra logs window under "View" and save the contain in case of errors.

"Doc is updated too"

Cheers
Remy

I updated the ffmpeg v1.0.0 WPI test package again and corrected a mapping issue with video join function which could appear in some case (video not at stream 0.0)

( please use the link above to get the refreshed v1.0.0 test )

Please, get latest Dave's build ffmpeg fix which has now theora and libvpx (vp8) support.
It should work but I already have some environment issue and can't use this fix (no problem with older Paul's one)
If you find some issue, please send me an email

Some progress and I could run a modified Dave's ffmpeg build

I refreshed the v1.0.0 test build on my site (same link as above)
I have a default video option -async 3 for audio synchronous. May be some user would like use a different default.

Run one time ffmpegca --async x (with x = numerical value > 0) and it will update ini file with the new specified default value. (e.g. --async 3 will do an audio syncro every 3s)

Tips...

For slideshow creation, have a look under "Diaporama" doc section
Create each picture with the same size and order them as described. set the frame rate to display each picture the needed time

Always have an audio file with the full slidshow time when using this "diaporama" function while the full time is audio file dependant. If no sound is expected, create an audio file for the amount of time and set the volume to the lowest value. this should do the tric

High,

following an end-user comment, I moved docs into a "doc" directory under ffmpegca and added a direct link to this folder from under ffmpegca "Help" entry

Changed ffmpegca from v1.0.0 to v1.0.1   (minor update)

You might want to consider changing the install target of your WPI from:

"?:\programs\FFMPEGCA"

to

"$(WARPIN_DEFAULTAPPSPATH)\FFMPEGCA"

Hi Remy,

What you have just done proves that warpin is easier to manipulate that RPM/YUM and it works!

Thanks

Hi Remy,

at release 1.0.0 why not change the name of this great app? Isn't  something different and more than a simple gui to ffmp? a name easy to be pronounced and possibly pointing to its functions.

that's only my opinion

Thanks

Well, it always does some kind of conversion whatelse you do ( CA = Convert All )

These conversion includes:
- create video out of audio files
- create slideshows
- cut/join audio or video medias
- Create video presention of mixed videos with a text part for studies or other kind of student or thatcher need and make a html readable doc with video chapter thumbnail
And much more...

Because some parts require use of external player and this one is welcome to check video contain before working with it, it was added the possibility to play audio/video from the process list or before importing the file from the internal filemanager for easy use as well the import PM123 list for quick conversion...

Sure, it has now all function I planned to implement and this starting with v1.0.0
Next, I'll check suggestions and comments and may be correct some new bugs...

May be something like "FFMPEGCA Media Process/Creation Tool" instead of "GUI" only. Well It sound nice for me but what do you think about ?

Cheers
