Title: Looking for VisPro software
Post by: miturbide on 2012.08.29, 05:33:30
Hi

I e-mailed Dave Hock from Hockware/Vispro software. I was trying to turn his VisPro software open source but sadly the source code no longer exists. It was lost on a HDD crash.

But Dave had authorized to use VisPro software as "AS IS", "no support", "no questions ask" :) freeware.

I need help finding the last version of the binaries to put them available at hobbes:

Please let me know if anybody has the installers of this software. If you have a older version please let me know too.

Regards

I have the VisPro REXX Bronze Edition 2.11 on original diskette.

hm.. is being sold from Mensys :-}

http://shop.mensys.nl/catalogue/mns_VPC.html

but the question is if its "freeware" now, will they continue to sell a "freeware"(*) ?! (this depends of course on how/what they paid or not the original s/w publisher)

Hi xChris

Thanks for letting me know that. I will have to talk to Mensys about this.

Talk to Chuck McKinnis.  I know he uses VP/REXX - in fact, a few years ago, he and a couple of others were in negotiations with Dave Hock to try and buy the source to take over development.  Unfortunately, they couldn't reach a mutually-agreeable deal.

I was on the periphery of that discusson at the time, and in fact as part of that I was sent the binaries of VP/REXX 3.1 Gold (don't remember exactly why).  I think I still have them somewhere, but you'll probably do better to get them off Chuck or maybe Mensys.

Joachim from Mensys told me that there is no problem from their side to turn it freeware.

So, I'm starting to collect the binaries to put them on hobbes.

Really good news Martin, I'll look forward to get this software.

Too bad the sources got lost...

ISTR Alex Taylor made good projects with VisPro, so maybe he can help you.

Actually, I don't use VisPro at all.  I've played with it a couple of times, but that's it.

I use VX-REXX, personally.

Thanks diver.

It was sent to me  "VisPro/REXX Gold 3.1"

I'm still looking for:

So, I will appreciate if you can send me VisPro/Reports 2.1.

About database designer, I'm not sure which is the last version, I'm guessing that the one that comes with "VisPro/REXX Gold 3.1" is the last version.

Thanks
