Title: General Availability (GA) Date For eComStation 2.0
Post by: saborion2 on 2008.02.25, 18:23:07
Does anyone know what is the General Availability (GA) Date for the release of the now long overdue eComStation 2.0 by "Serenity Systems International"; which, from all indications was scheduled for release during 4Q 2007.  ::)  ::)  ::)

Thank you.

I just got a copy of eComStation Magazine (thank you Joachim Benjamins :) ) that says it was set for release in 2006! LOL. I guess it is looong overdue. I would like to know as well, my SSS (software subscription services) have run out already, I need a new eCS. Do we get them pre-burnt in proper packaging? I dont particularly like only having burnt copies of eCS, makes me feel like I am pirating it. ???

I did not know there was an eComStation magazine. Was it part of the software subscription?

No, I bugged Mensys (and by proxy Joachim Benjamins apparently) for eComStation case badges. I wanted to buy a few to stick on my desktop, and he was super cool about it, and sent me a bunch for free :) Along with that came a letter and a copy of eComStation magazine :).

Since the date on it shows 2006, does that indicate there are none more recent?  ???  It would be neat to get one.  ;D

The magazine was made as a surprise for Warpstock Europe 2006 and there hasn't been made any more issues. So here is an idea; why not create a pdf file of the magazine so everyone can get a copy of it?

Thanks Kim for the explanation with regards to the publication of the eComStation magazine. Now, what about the the futures of OS/2, eComStation, VOYAGER et cetera, et cetera or are the OS/2 Communities around the world composed/comprised of mendicants?  >:(  >:(  >:(!

I was not sure if that was allowed, but I can probably scan something. Gotta go back to XP though..

"Gotta go back to XP though..." So, just where in the world is OS/2? Are we not going to see some really cool "enhancements" to our beloved OS in the very near future or what?  :(  :(  :(

Well, you are getting a multi-page TIFF with OCR, not a PDF. HP's garbage software died on me leaving me without a free means to make PDF files. The only formats I can do are TIFF or XPS, and Lucide cant do XPS yet sooo :(

(as for the gotta go back to XP thing above, I need scanner support and Office Document Imaging)

Edit: Its done, 15.8MB, what I do with it now?
Edit Edit: The .xps is 6.99MB, but not sure if OCR was preserved?

So, I finally converted it into a PDF. Its 17.x MB, so rather large. What do i do with it?

You can upload the document to the Library (http://www.os2world.com/library) section; think that would be the easiest. Let me know if there are any issues to upload (I'll going to check also what the file limit is also for uploads). Alternative is to upload it via ftp to our OS2 Abandonware section and I'll make sure to post it.

It would be neat to have another 'special issue' for Warpstock 2008 (both Europe and America).  ;D

I've added the pdf document now to the Library (http://www.os2world.com/component/option,com_docman/Itemid,87/task,cat_view/gid,61/) section also this document was too big to be uploaded via browser; so in this case uploading to the server directly using ftp was the best thing to do.

And thanks to you for scanning the whole magazine! It was quite a cool paper, fun to see. This magazine once or twice a year wouldn't be bad.

It sounds like something from a late night horror movie.  ;D

When I requested the demo cd download, I indicated it might be a little out of date. They said they are working on version 2.0 and would update the demo cd after 2.0 is released. I look forward to the release of 2.0.  8)
