Fahrvenugen,

Thanks for the info. Will share if there is anything worth to note in using it.

Blonde Guy,

We have to prepare. Otherwise, tools like above will become more and more difficult to get.

In red book SG24-6631-00 OS/2 Server Transition, it mentioned there is free utility to convert Communications Server configuration files from OS/2 to Windows. It is available at
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/network/commserver/downloads/enhancements/csos2.html

I found that URL was dead. Would like to ask whether you know its new location ? I checked it does not exist in Communications Server current site. http://www-01.ibm.com/software/network/commserver/

Alternatively, did any of you keep a copy of that if you have participated a project like this before.

Thanks a lot.

30. Moderate hardware requirement (compare with what it can do).

Further info from last post. The following configuration should work. I tried that on a T40.

Software version
- WinXP Pro SP1 with MS Virtual PC 2007, eCS 1.2 MR

Virtual PC 2007 settings
- Select OS/2, RAM 256 MB

eCS installation parameters
- Easy installation, select T40 in hardware selection

The eCs VM can be installed successfully. Just a small issue : it cannot auto detect sound card. But I do not have time to further investigate.

Miturbide, James, Mobybrick, Fahrvenugen,

Thank first for your help.

Besides those mentioned info, I found the follow URLs which also described how to apply OS/2 Fixpak (Warp 3 or above)

1. http://www.tavi.co.uk/os2pages/fixpaks.html
2. http://dink.org/fixpak.htm
3. http://www.warpdoctor.org/walter/articles/1999/aa072199.html

Cheers

If you want to keep XP, try Virtual PC 2007 from MS. It is free and easy to use. (Don't get me wrong. I am NOT MS fans, it is just personal experience)

I did not try eCom and Warp 4, but Warp 3 can be installed with it. Unlike VM Workstation, MS stated  OS/2 is supported as guest.

There is one trick for installing Warp 3 under VPC 2K7, not sure whether it is applicable to eCom. Don't change the default memory size of virtual machine from the default 64MB to any other values.

Dear friends,

I tried to apply fixpak XR_W043 to an Warp 3 system but failed with error "CSF00257: No product has been selected.". Below is the steps on how it was applied, please advise whether the steps are correct ?

a. Download fixpak and CSF144 and create corresponding disks
b. Create 3 utilities disks from that system
c. Customize response.wp3 in CSF144 disk. Just change '\' in file to 'c:\'
d. Boot up with disks created in step b to obtain command prompt
e. Insert CSF144 disk and issue one of the following command :
In A:> prompt, FPINST WARP3          or
    in C:> prompt, a:\FPINST WARP3
f.  Insert disk 1 of fixpak when prompt
g. After a while , error message came out

Tried to boot up from c:, then insert CSF144. Issue command a:\service. Result is the same.

Some articles from internet indicated replacement of syslevel.os2 in \OS2\INSTALL directory with the one came with installation disk will help. In this case, it will not.

Syslevel show its current CSD is XR03000. Version is V3.00 Rev. 8.250

Thanks in advance.
