This should remove some impediments to getting the latest version of Java ported to OS/2.

Does anyone have the excellent multithreaded graphics package ColorWorks 2.0 for OS/2 ?
I have a copy of ColorWorks v1+, which was the somewhat lighter version that SPG sold at the same time as the v2.0 release.  I think I paid US$99 for it at the time.  Nice program.  VERY nice manual.  I may have a PDF version of the manual as well somewhere.

What are the differences between v1+ and v2?

Even a free BINARY-ONLY release of the OS/2 client, or a seriously reduced price to SSI so eCS's licensing costs can be dropped, would be tremendously helpful to eCS and the OS/2 community.

I know many people who seem intrigued by OS/2, but the price point of eCS scares them away.  Given that most alternative operating systems (Solaris, Linux, FreeBSD, BeOS) can be downloaded and used legally for no cost, the price of even an academic eCS license is staggeringly large.  :-(

I'd give you tons of feedback, but I don't think I actually use any of your ports.  :-(  I have a lot of ported UNIX stuff in my software collection, of course, but it's mostly stuff like Links, slrn, pine, mc, an older XFree86 plus various apps (GIMP, XV, etc.), etc.

With LINA, a single executable written and compiled for Linux can be run with native look and feel on Windows, Mac OS X, and UNIX operating systems.

Sounds useful.  :-)  I wonder how well such programs will perform on older hardware?
