I know this app is ancient, but I like it, so still want to use it. However, when trying to open one of the DBE applications, I get the message "Error opening form_______.

Q+E Software ODBC dbase driver cannot open file_________

What do I do now??

Thanks for all the help. The laptop is working again--in Warp 4. I think I'm going to have to reinstall ECS, which is going to be "fun" (not).

Damn! I just found out thru a dir command on both c:\ and c:\os2 that there isn't an os2.ini file in either directory. Now what?

Also, when I booted with the ALT-F1, it couldn't find the archives

Just did a dir on C:. It shows a config.000, config.257, config.557, config.bak, and config.sys. Is there any way of viewing these files and/or changing the names of any of these files so I could use a different config.xxx file?

Is there a way to display the config.sys file from the command line?

I haven't found my bootable ECS CD yet.

Applications / ECS Workplace Shell

When I boot my laptop--which has had ECS/OS2 on it for several years--The boot sequence goes thru starting the graphics/video (Snap). The next step is to initialize and start workplace shell. The following window shows up:

     Workplace Shell

The program pointed to bu the SETRUNWORKPLACE= line in the Config.sys could not
be started. Winstart App returned %1

At this point, the system stops booting, no matter if I click on OK or Cancel

What does this mean?
What do I do to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

This is probably a dumb question, but what is GCC?

Will the install ask if I want to set up Boot Manager? It would have to be set up on my D: drive so it doesn't mess up my windoze HDD.

Wondoze is already set up and running using my C: drive, which is its own HDD. OS/2/eCS will be on a separate physical HDD.

I have downloaded zipped eCS files for installation on a separate HDD. What do I do next?

Applications / Dual Boot or?
2010.12.02, 21:33:25
I am installing a 2nd HDD in my currently windoze system. I am planning to install eCS on that HDD. Can I set up a situation where I can boot into 1 OS or the other? How? What problems might I run into?

Internet / Firefox for eCS
2010.12.02, 21:29:43
Looking for a link to download Firefox for OS/2 or eCS. Do I have to purchase that version from Mozilla?

Also, once I get Firefox loaded under eCS, can I use Google? If so, is it the same as under windoze? What differences might I find?

What is the best email app to use under eCS? Will there be any problems with reading email that may be sent from a windoze email app?

Thanks for your help.

Help!
My laptop stopped booting a while back and I haven't had time to fix it. I think I can boot it off the eCS cd. If I can do that, how do I locate the eCS serial number so I can reinstall eCS???

Thanks in advance.
