I haven't logged on in a looong time, but I just had to say Thank You!

That killed those @#$%^!!! crashes. Once the disappearing cursor is fixed I will be a happy camper.

Security / Hosts file blacklist
2008.05.05, 15:58:58
Kim suggested in a private email that I should post info about one more security tool. This is a regularly updated hosts file that blocks all kinds of malware sites. It is available at:  http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/

Don't be put off by the fact that it is a totally Win site. The format of the Windows hosts file and OS/2-eCS hosts file is the same.

So what do you do with it?  If you don't have a hosts file in X:\mptn\etc (X is your boot disk) Just add it. It is a plain text file and its format is explained in the comments in the file. If you do have a hosts file you probably added it and know how to combine the old and new...  pretty obvious actually.

I had one site that crashed Seamonkey like clockwork. I watched the loading locations on the bottom of the screen and when it crashed I added the location to my hosts file. End of problem.

Some users may find it too exclusionary, especially if you actually want to see all the ads/adverts.
