Hi,

I found some OS/2 stuff that I would like to part with. In general, I do ship world-wide, but note that shipping costs are high to some countries. I will give the free ones as a goodie to people purchasing something else.

Note that the prices are for single purchases. If you purchase several items, we certainly can talk about a rebate.

If you are interested in an item, please contact me via email at christianXhenneckeXos2voiceXorg (replace X with dot and @ characters). Please do not use the internal messaging of this board since I don't read it regularly and might miss new messages.

The s. .. .

Eugene, I appreciate your effort to draw young people to the ageing community but I think you are wasting your energy. It's much too late for such actions. Young and aspiring people will not choose an "obsolete" system. Just try to see it from their perspective: In a 64 bit world, OS/2 is a 32 bit OS with some 16 bit components, spotty hardware support, not exactly many available applications and a rather limited set of development tools. In addition, I really doubt that their professors would be excited about them choosing something from the past to solve their tasks. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot.

Hi everybody,

A few weeks ago I offered software and books for sale or free. Since almost no-one fulfilled my request to make a bid for the things they were interested in, many items are still available.

To add to the incentive: If you give proof that you have donated a minimum of 50 Euro to the Qt4 project after October 5, 2009, you can get something from the list below for just the cost of shipping. This is with two exceptions: The items Warp Server Advanced and Visual Age C++ with tons of printed documentation require a minimum donation of 100 Euros.

Shipping costs vary between 5 Euros for locations inside Germany to 25 Euro for locations in Australia and Asia.

Please note that I cannot determine if floppy disks still work.

Storage / NetDrive NTFS write performance
2009.09.21, 17:36:33
Hi,

I've been using the NTFS plugin for NetDrive to access my Windows XP partition for a while now. No cases of data loss and the read performance is acceptable. However, the write performance is abysmal. I started copying a 750 MB file to the NTFS drive almost 2 hours ago and it's still running, causing 10 to 40% CPU load on an Athlon 64 XP 3500+ single core CPU. Does anybody know any way to improve the performance?

The Warpstock Europe Steering Group has received a bid for holding Warpstock Europe 2009 in Stralsund, Germany.

Stralsund lies in the north east of Germany, directly at the coast of the Baltic Sea and near to the island of Rügen as well as the border to Poland.
The event location would be a hotel. Since it is part of a public network for integration of handicapped people into the vocational world, it can offer decent rates for seminar rooms and accomodation while being of the 3 star type. A few dates in November 2009 have been reserved.
The group that has submitted the bid consists of members of the local German user group Team OS/2 Ruhr e.V. who have already been involved with previous events up to a certain extent.

This bid is currently being evaluated. Since Stralsund is not located in a conurbation or metropolitan area, we have prepared a small survey to learn about the visitors' needs and limits:

http://www.warpevents.eu/en/home/warpstock_europe_2009_survey.html

Please help us to improve the Warpstock Europe experience and take the time to complete the survey! (Note that you first have to enter a captcha string to access the survey.)

Folks,

Access to the news submission form should be easier. Currently, you have to login and click your way through to it. That's not very encouraging.

Also, the submission form is too wide and breaks the layout.
