Marketplace / FREEBIE...

here's a Free Online Book for you Trekies..http://Reslib.com/book/Beyond_Star_Trek This is an unusual book written in memory of Carl Sagan. It may be a test of will here to read the entire book online, nonetheless Lawrence Krauss enumerates the pitfalls of humanity in the Bazaaro-belief system often perpetuated by Hollyweird: that aliens are coming in huge TRIANGULAR SHIPS and NOT in house-fly sized saucers! All his persistant reference to Scientific method does not however explain away the folklore which even today can be found in live site'g reports, not just in the tabloids but on air as well...[uh, Remember ART BELL's COAST TO COAST?] -- as I myself have seen many large "ships" some triangular, others Blimp-like, one I took pictures of on slide-film over North Las Vegas on Nov. 4, 1980, late afternoon-with a pro grade 35mm camera, that object not only blotted out the sun but moved over the entire Valley in such a way as to create a huge lightning-front preceding its coming...no, not rain, but a storm-like event that was to become an upheaval in the local weather pattern for hours the same night, this event forced me to wait out the sudden adverse weather that beset us on a wide scale in LV...and which, BTW, was not forecast - that made the event almost unbelievable, that is, until I spliced the actual slide images together and had them professionally color Xroxed >:(. Now getting back to the book on flying saucers, science affliction, et al...I can tell you that in the Krauss read, the author overlooks much of what is seen in the nite sky by millions today around the world, in fact Jesus was an alien and he still is[walking the earth in ardance], that is why he was crucifield. Have fun with this one (and if you don't believe me, I can send pix of what I found in the temple of Aphrodite on the Is. of Dragonda just off the coast of Western Turkey in 1969 (The one with the Savior with a space ship in the background which has been dated to the time of the first greek settlements where gold was first mined near Edincek, TurKey - that is what is known as Western Turkey to those who have not yet ventured there) I also dug up interesting coins and strange artifacts there which were donated to the Minister of Archeology. But again, I digress, the point is when you merge fact with fiction it becomes a drug and drugs are worthless poisons. God Bless Steve Jobs and the WOZ!

Since I rec'd alot of inquiry, it would have been to my debt that WebSphere sealed in the back of the
book I was selling here did not ship out as there were takers a'plenty but no buyers

C:\WebSphere\AppServer\hosts\default_host\admin\web\index.html

this was the link on the ADMIN page for a d.l. of the Admin Client and it goes in a loop, to the admin page itself, not to a d.l.  So, I thoroughly tested this app in spite of the foibles with the admin failure, i.e. up againt my OS2 server Xitami, using both a loop back addr. as well as my IP addr. and others.  I could run Xitami off of a CD and get a response to a homepage with the IP as the address, while using warp4, but not however, using Apache on the installed WebSphere's server, it was oddly just a "no go"...

How could that be? [ur, or so I wondered]. Then on the server admin page [which, as I mentioned is the link
above to the local server], there is also a link to upgrade the WebS admin interface using java, et al. This is an XML Web Administration Tool using a web browser, and it too was a bogus link, also pointing to the link shown above as itself as the target, this shows up as the properties list out of the link. Why? anyone know where I could get the server XML admin tools, hobbs, or? The apache server does not work on the CD once installed -so I'm blitzed by this, if I had sold the book off with the CD I guess this blooper would have come back to bite...Yikes! Since I now have opened the shrink wrap and intsalled it on a TwindoZe machine, just to test its response against a known working server [Xitami for Windows and OS2];- thought I might be able to get off windows entirely using WebSphere/Apache as the ticket. BTW, using my Warp 4 server it was no easy chore getting TCP/IP to work with dial up to test Xitamin for OS2, now I would like to upgrade and use the WebShere ebusiness attributes but can't. Pls. Help me if you can at least point us to a place to go to d.l. something or other that would make the whole thing work right. I have no extra copies of this to give away but even if I did I wouldnt give something away that's useless and a total waste of time, much less put it on display in IBM SHOW? arghhhhh??? It seems to me that IBM did a whole lot of promo on this app and I come to find too little too late that its useless unless of course it could be ported to some open source project, which is a whole legal issue I can't deal with by myself. Touche IBM_tanks fur the memories on the Hudson tech dudes!

Marketplace / IBM OS/2 Warp 4 Rel. in 2001 for sale...
« on: 2010.08.05, 01:12:19 »
this is a Pro release on CD. It reads:
top to bottom...

PARTNER WORLD
IBM Release 2 Volume 4
Disc P12
September 2000

Professional
...IBM Developer ...toolbox...
POWER your solutions
 OS/2 Warp Version 4

CV6YWNA

this disk ships with: 'wireless solutions tools CD Disc P57 April 2001
these are hot off of the multi-layered IBM Show BookShelf under glass that is...
$40 -two disks sold as is in caddys
S&H is $4 inc. ins. using media mail - USPS only

as of this writing-Aug 18-2010
I added two more Pro DEV Series CDs I purchased on ebay way back before
Fleabay became the number one AMAZON clone...Post Capitalist retail hell Portal...
in addition to the aforementioned disks P12 & P57 these are:

disk P48 Internet tools for OS/2 and...
disk P58 Java, XML and wireless solutions tools

BTW these are additional releases not copies of the IBM DeveloperToolbox series
(formerly IBM Developer Connection Devtool releases for Warpers); all four disks will be shipped in one jewelbox containing the four CDs listed here. One more note: the Warp 4 release on CD has no index file.
Most releases in this series back then had NO autoplay so you load the CD in your
tray -manually open the drive and click on the index.htm file to open it so as to read
about the release....presumably these all came to the DEV user as a subscription service.
How many of these released=anyone's guess! -the PRO DEV site at IBM went
belly up on Dec 31, 2006 [as did Warp 4.51 support], leaving us all in the lurch...
however, there is still yet another Dev site at IBM I belong to just for the fun of it -
you could join in at their website, [link coming when I find it!!!] - register there just
for the cause? -also there is Hobbes for stuff like blue CAD whatever.
So, the upshot is you can get four PRO DEV Apps; Issues: P12, P48, P57, P58 hey I will even thow in a sealed
C++ for OS/2 should you ask[see post script of previous ad for same on this market-
place*

...avoir

*VAC++ I have for sale may not work for OS2 Warp 4, or Warp 4 Server, unless
you have certain fixpaks installed on your OS. The last post on this comes from
the readme file inside the WARP4 CD support pkg...

the link provided in that file...

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/visualagecpp/fixes/v30os2/english-us/warp4/
readme.txt is more current than the readme file on the Warp4 CD and presumably
you can have all the fixpaks required or (later ones even, than what is listed in the
above linked file from IBM...surprised to see that the date on this folder was 11+25+06
- well after support ended, officially that is, now since I provided this info, if you want
to use the VAC++ for OS2 Warp 4 [both are for sale here-now]; pls' take the time to
make sure that you have to fixpaks loaded...readme fill refered to here is dated 8+30+96.
Some customer support eh??? Anywho its good to know bigblue is still on the schtick! :-*

just dbl click on the image below to enlarge...thanks! MZ

Applications / trends in VM on a rail...
« on: 2010.08.05, 00:58:46 »
don't mean to spam the mssg board here but I guess I was wrong about trends in our using multiple OSes,
viz. what we all should be using our computers for in the 21st C, this just in a couple of days ago [link included at bottom of post]..well almost, pls read the P.S. for add'l info...

'Year of the virtual desktop' a flop so far

More than halfway through what vendors and many analysts predicted would be the
year virtual desktops would replace enormous numbers of the physical kind, sales
of desktop virtualization products are growing at a rate "that looks about the
same as in 2009," according to Ian Song, analyst for International Data Corp.

http://www.networkworld.com/news/2010/072910-year-of-the-virtual-desktop.html?source=NWWNLE_nlt_virtualization_2010-08-02

I thought virtualization was the key... so that I could use MAC OS and then "boot in" to
a 'Twindoze' session, then to KDE and then...
back to OS2 Warp 4 Pro ver. release from IBM....my nxt trick would be hard metalization
of all my OS sessions on one box to keep hackers out-like using what is called a "sandbox" but not as an app...enjoy the article! :-\

P.S. in case you are interested in a 'sandbox' other than Chromium, here is a link to another
sandbox for safeguarding data... http://www.sandboxie.com/

M2 KYBD with an older IBM PS2...Bundle FOR SALE CHEAP!

This old IBM Clunker  desktop set, aka a clickey keyboard that is in good condition shown that
goes with the unit and it seemingly dwarfs the IBM 286 desktop by comparison -in the pic at least
and weighs as much as the PC!  The 35SX is Copyright 1991...has no fancy smancy peripherals,
just the kybd shown; has VGA built-in the mobo-I'll post a pic of the I/O panel ASAP. I did test
and modified the autoexec and sys files to boot into Twindoze 3.1. For an old machine it is not slug,
ie - NOT a slow running machine and you could run a BBS in Dos by exiting out of the OS into the
command line and running JetBBS with a Parallel port Modem as there is a printer port RS232, and
I can provide Jet BBS disks if you want it-can be installed using the one floppy drive built-in to
the front panel which is 3.5in.

Also... on the back pnl is another port for the mouse provided [also IBM - of the same vtg].
(mouse not shown).

I am asking 25 bucks plus shipping for the whole shabang U$D...Sorry we only ship to the South Central US Postal Zone...email me with your ZIP if you need shipping quote, we pay insurance which has its own tracking no.

Marketplace / PC Jr KYBD Mod.7257 P#6181835 SN28943256
« on: 2010.07.29, 16:20:27 »
RE: PC Jr KYBD Mod.7257 P#6181835 SN28943256, this has a cable attached that looks like an old phone R11 end but I do not know where it plugs into a computer. I use serveral PC Jr. boxes for DXing and have never needed this model... I am selling same as is with a box of sealed OS2 diskettes. I only ship to states of LA, TX, AR, NM. No longer can we ship to any other states in the US.

BTW in case anyone needs this stuff send me your TX, or NM or AR zip -will provide a shipping cost quote for you USPS Parcel-Post Service with insurance which we will pay for you.  Also note: we no longer ship to MISSOURI due to chargebacks so we must insist on USPS IMO's!

Item shown is a similar  PC-Jr. unit for sale, however this item has no cable of any kind, there is slot in the upper side edge at left-shows a port opening similar to the other item for sale...these typically go for $10 but make an offer, who knows, I would rather get a little something than just toss em over to the man at the transfer station...which we have been known to do, unfortunately as things do break down, eventually and we need space for new donations. Tanks::)MZ

Well well well, come to find that beyond the many many pitfalls whilst using virtualization software, VMware announces a win lose draw tact in renouncing its own scheduled timeline for release of its H.W. baremetal version of its new release. All of this behind hardware-bare metal by Citrix... http://www.networkworld.com/news/2010/051210-citrix-desktop-hypervisor.html?page=2

and then, not that this leaves us all in the lurch [quite unaware that there are problems with social networking...]

YOU NEED TO GO TO INTERNET EXPLORER, INTERNET OPTIONS, CONNECTIONS, LAN SETTINGS, AND UNCHECK "PROXY SERVER" -THIS SHOULD FIX YOUR PROBLEM of netbots invading when you get your latest Utube fix when updating flash, I WOULD ALSO RUN MALWAREBTYES-hey it can't hurt! If you are a victim of becoming a ZOMBIE machine, stop clicking on emails from your social networking "friends"

...getting away from I TOLD U=So's...back to the virtualization front. Where does the hardware or bare metal VM's leave Microsoft and those [like I]that run AIX with OS2 on top of my MAC G4 box? Do we need to upgrade so as to be on the up and up and also be able to run eCOMM Sta. as the virtual machine> I am having VMware overload, educate me ::)

Marketplace / FleaBay Jive NOT!
« on: 2010.06.18, 02:46:04 »
A couple members contacted us about some software for Liquidation on FleaBay - the Virtual Flea Mkt. as it turns out, I gave this surplus IBM Show stuff to a freind to post for the listers here who contacted me.

She listed a few items intently at ninety nine cents and no reserve...this seemed
fair as some items were won and all seemed kool...until she listed some archaic MS Win9x OS from the late 90's ...a resto CD she had from an olde g-way lap.

Well, that my freinds was a big mistake and for her I do mean BIG...since whoever bought the first IBM Show item [a Visual C++ app for OS2 -who's money had to be refunded using her 'paybuddy' acct.] there has been shear HELLLLLLLLLL to pay by both MS, PayPal and eBay! Said CD was listed in none other than "... /OS/Other" or so I am told with hundreds like it, yes - listed with tons of "other OS" items, similarly researched to find a fair starting price so she wouldnt be wasting anyones time. As I recall it was for under ten bucks and had original factory seal, shrink wrap and came with an Enterprize CD by Symantec. This was not a copy nor did the CD say "not for resale" anywhere on the disk, it just happens to be an old outdated restore disk that accompanied her old gateway laptop that she had donated years ago...so what is the big deal?

Vero's snoop -I forget her name already- makes some big complaint about it to eBay or so it seems. She follows up with a mssg ebay saying that the seller continues to sell similar items like this in the same category. NOT TRUE by the way.  The seller gets a message from ebay on MyFleaBay...as to the fact that six auctions are now cancelled, all the funds from her PayBuddy acct. are also frozen but no message to that effect is ever found. She found out by trying to withdraw the shipping fees paid by the sellers so that she could ship the item(s_) About a week goes by with no further action, no email, nothin. Then as if a virtual hawk came swooping out of the cyber bit bucket and down on her account ID 'andwhatnots' all the other 6 auctions are gone ... of course! As far as similar items in said category...all remain, some with bids, but NOT hers.

So, I do apologize to the person who purchashed the V i s u a l C++ Sealed, for OS2 and the other App...it was a situation that came out the blindsight way beyond her control...
I am in process of backtracking this problem. Should that person still want the items they can be still be purchased off ebay as her account was suspended -totally thrashed due to selling an old outdated MicroSoft piece of garbage...oops did I say that?
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHA! Balmeried again in cyberspace ??? If they buyer would just contact me through this forum if you need this (C++__et al)and I will fwd the message to the person who now still has the items.

this post was regarding: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280522813392

[Zi;ch,,, though these times demand that most of that go back to support political dupes and such...s&h is also minimal as is the cost of priority mail [gee, ever cost out the price of a mailer -  box at Staples lately? -ah YUK] ((plus 80 Cents delivery confirmation)), oooooooooooo, this could get spendy!
Anywho, this stuff is new and some is just surplus for us, all bundles have bonuses and require buyers to have verified Paypal Addresses in the lower 48 U.S. States...here too are some other items for you 'Trekies':]
