Emulators / Sun xVM VirtualBox
2009.01.09, 18:35:51
I was wondering, has any one ever installed Sun xVM VirtualBox on an OS2 systems, is it possible? I assume being by Sun it is Java?

What does it do?

Answer it creates a virtual machine on a host computer. On this machine you can installed any OS, as if it were a PC. I just installed windoze XP, and it boots windows xp on top of my Linux destop. NO MORE DUAL BOOTING!! You can also install, Linux, Solaris, OS/2, BSD, Dos, etc. I tried to install Warp 4, but I got a trap before I really got any where.

Could this be the replacement for ODIN?

Setup & Installation / Boot ECS from GRUB
2008.11.29, 22:09:54
I am having problems booting different OS's. I have Win XP, FreeDos, eCS, and Linux, on different partions. I can not boot Linux from boot manger or Boot Magic. If I let grub take the job, it adds Win XP and FreeDos to the boot menu, but not eCS. Also Linux is unable to mount my JFS partition. in the drives window these drive are displace as the name 0100 (binary) I added eCS to the grub menu, all is correct, but it will not boot, I get the following error.

Root (hd0,4) File System JFS Partition type 0x7
saveddefault
makeactive
error 12: Invalid device request

If any one is booting linux and ecs, could you please tell me your setup.

Thanks Bob

Internet / Foxmarks Plug In
2008.11.15, 21:44:03
For all you dual booters I found a great plug in for Firefox: http://www.foxmarks.com/

It stores you bookmarks and passwords on a server, allows you to sync between different computers, you can even look at your bookmarks from a public computer.

An old OS\2 desktop from early 90s, yet more advanced with is OO technology, then any thing windoze has to offer in 2008. Just hide your windoze icons.

Thanks for all the help with the input devices, (Mouse and KB). I am having problems setting up a printer, an OKI C5510MFP. I is installed on a network, as well as USB. I dont have a clue how to set up either, I have not set up an OS2 orinter since the days of LPT ports. Well, if any one could give me a walk through it would help.

Setup & Installation / RC5 3 problems
2008.10.29, 00:03:15
Well, I gave up on the 1.2r. I was actually able to install and get to the WPS!!

OK, I have 2.0 RC5 installed, have 3 problems. os2\boot\pscom.sys wont load and gives a sys1201

Mouse and keyboard works fine till I get to the desktop, then I have absolutely no input from either. I tried USB wireless and USB wired mouse and KB.

I have XP installed on C: and eCS installed on D: Boot manager shows both drives as C: and boots eCS with an error of course. The only way to boot eCS is to start installation CD, delete BM and set D: Startable.

Hardware / Okidata C5510MFP
2008.10.18, 01:21:22
Hi, I have an Okidata C5510MFP, is eCs able to print out of this machine. I have it hooked up via USB and over a network, so I have 2 options for input. It is a multi function machine, but I don,t care all that much for scanning, mostly make photo copies with it.

Thanks Bob

ODIN / Odin
2008.10.17, 22:27:33
HI, I am new here, I have used all 3 versions of OS/2 ver 2.1, 3, and 4. I have not used OS/2 in a few years because of the need to move on to win32 apps. What is involved in using Odin? Is it a just a file converter, or would I need to add additional programs to the OS/2 installation as well? Is there any one for hire to make these conversions for me, so that I can just install it? I would really like to get away from the world of windows if it is possible. I tried the eComStation demo, and I really liked the way it ran without hogging my memory and CPU.

Thanks Bob
