Thank you all of you, but this does not solve the problem.
During the boot process it stops at the run command "RUN=E:\OS2\EXTENDFS.EXE * " and without displaying the blue background or the ePager. The next command in the CONFIG file is "CALL=E:\IBMCOM\PROTOCOL\NETBIND.EXE". I don't know if this means it has finished the extendfs.exe and can't do the CALL or if it really stops at the RUN statement. To me it looks like it really has to do with file systems (the FS in the RUN statement).
I would appreciate more proposals.

My PC (eCS 2.1) has all weird types of hangs. Normally I can just reboot one or two times and I am back in business.
But not this time.
I just wanted to shut down and pressed the shut down button. Then the Extended Shutdown window poped up and I selected Shut down only and pressed Ok.
Coming back to the computer half an hour later it was hanging in the pop up window with the text: Releasing file systems and showing 100 % done. It didn't respond to any action and I just had to switch it of (power off).
Then I tried to switch it on the normal way. Every thing seemed to work and it came up with the blue background and the ePager, and there it stopped with the time glass (mouse pointer) in the middle. I tried to start with pressing Alt+F2 and select an earlier config file. But the same result.
I still have eCS 2.0 installed and I wonder if I can copy a file from 2.0 or do I have to reinstall 2.1. Anyone know?

I bought an external card reader/writer for my memory sticks from my camera as it seems that eCS/OS2 can not use the internal card writer. I can read, write and format the 1 GB memory stick but not the 4 GB. eCS sees the 4 GB card, gives it a drive letter but says it has a wrong format or that the drive letter does not exist. It can open an empty window showing no files even if there are hundreds. I therefore have to reboot to MS to read/write/format the 4 GB card.
Any solution to the eCS problem?

I don't think I will investigate more time on this since I have a solution I can live with, but I like to say that there never was a problem when I booted between Vista and eCS20. I could delete files and add files without any problem. But when I booted eCS21 the partition was gone in Vista and that even if I didn't do anything in eCS21 but open the partition to see what files were in there. I didn't open any files. Rebooting to eCS21or eCS20 and the partition was there with all its files, but, as I said, not in Vista. The IFS are identical in eCS20 and 21.

Hi Pete.
Thank you for your answer. It seems to solve the problem, but not in the way we should expect. When I run the format command in Vista I got an error message: The partition is to big for FAT32.  Some documentation says that 32 Gb is the maximum size for formatting in Win. The documentation also says that the partitions can be a lot bigger if it is formatted with some other tool (as I did), but the different versions of Win handles this differently. In this case I think that eCS21 does something with the partition when it is bigger than 32 Gb, but I don't know what. I reduced the partition to 30 Gb and Vista accepts the partition now, even after its visit in eCS21.

I have run into a problem I don't know the solution for. I have WinVista, eCS20 and eCS21 installed. I installed eCS21 about a week ago. At the same time I resized the common FAT32 partition to 50GB using GParted (Linux).
After that I could access the common partition (F:) from Vista and eCS (both versions). But if I accessed the partition from eCS21 the partition became invisible in Vista. As long as I only used eCS20 everything was fine. I therefore reformatted the partition using DFSee. Again it was visible and accessible from all partitions. But again after accessing it from eCS21 it again was invisible in Vista. I found that Vista said it was not allocated! It is not possible to format Fat32 in Vista, so I downloaded a free ware program and formatted it in Vista. Now again: accessible in Vista, and after setting letter and name in eCS it was accessible in eCS as well.
But then again, after accessing it in eCS21 it was gone in Vista.
Any ideas what to do?

My intention was to format it as JFS volume. Normally I can select to format or reformat a volume to JFS or HPFS whatever was there before. This time I could not and as I could write to and read from it I still don't understand why. Anyway I first would try Pete's method as that was the simplest - and it worked. After rebooting I could format the partition and install eCS 2.1.
Thank you Pete.

I have trouble when trying to install eCS 2.1 on a new volume. It is a long story with trouble, but at the end  I managed to get the installation program to propose and accept a volume, FAT32, as the installation volume. But I wanted to format it as a JFS partition. After 2-3 sec. the Format program displays the message: SYS0528: The specified disk did not finish formating.  SYS1311: The system files are missing.
I have eCS 2.0 running on the computer, and here I can write to the partition, read from it and so on, but also when trying to format it from 2.0 I get the same message.
Can anybody tell me what to do?

My mistake (not often   ;D). In Scribus I have to specify/select which fonts to embed in the pdf-file. I didn't and I have learned. The default seems to be - none.
#10
Fonts are normally installed in the PSFONTS folder. I use Scribus, and Scribus finds the fonts in PSFONTS or anywhere I tell it where to find them. When I have created something in Scribus and want to print it I have to write it as a PDF file and print it from Lucide. But if I have used a special font Lucide replace it with another font. As Scribus is a Desktop Publishing Program my choice of fonts is essential. In my case I can't use the result.  So what can I do?.
Well I can take the PDF-file into Acrobat in Windows and look at the result. No. The fonts are replaced with something else. But in Acrobat folder there is a subfolder (Fonts) and there I can copy in my font-file and now the result is as it should be.
My question is about how to make my fonts available for Lucide. There is no font-folder. In the ReadMe file there is an explanation on how to make japanese fonts working, but nothing about "normal" fonts.  In this case the font is jr!ha_ttf.
Can anyone help?

Utilities / Re: Scrolling with Mouse wheel

Thank you, but not good to know what is the adequate button. But anyway, I tried the different buttons on the left side of my mouse. One of them changed to the next window that was open and at the same time changed the behavior of the scroll wheel. The others had no effect on anything. One button with a magnifying glass, and two with an arrow up and down. The up arrow changed the behavior and changed the window.

Sometimes (too often) the scroll wheel change behavior. It start scrolling sideways in the browser window or in Open Office text window. I can't see that the mouse setup gives that as an option. I must have done something that changes the behavior and I should of course have been able to change the behavior back. The only solution so far has been to reboot. Or ...?

Applications / Re: Java for os2

JPhotoBrush is for me another proof of the importance of Java for eCS/OS2. Now I can edit old scanned pictures in a way I couldn't before. I bought PMView Pro a few weeks ago, but it has not the necessary functions.
There is a site (OS/2 Java Corner) on  http://www.os2world.com/java/ that contains a lot of info about programs and applications that can be run using Java, but it has not been updated since 2007. I think it is time to start updating it again. Have a look.

I use jAlbum 9.1.3.
But there are some bugs in Java or Odin that gives a few problems.
Sometimes jAlbum don't start. It just consumes 100 % CPU for a minute or so and then dies. I had often to reboot up to 10 times before it started.
One can not drag and drop pictures into the work area, that kills the program. You have to use the File Open Dialog to select the pictures you want to create an album for.
