Ya, I get a blank screen too from the topic but not from the forum main page: http://os2world.com/forum too bad Kim you don't use os2world.org for a blog this would be kewl...use like a wiki type thingy for fast turnaround like at "wiki leaks" mirrored all over the net. Word Press is a good place to start or as I said use a free site to post concerns about the utter failure of this forum to be properly managed and moderated, et al :'(.

this was already answered :: in fact he did quite a nice interpretation of your persistant vagueness in this regard, not only do I too often forget about just doing an internet - wide search on topics, I rely on discussions here that are relevhant to my interests not so much in eCommStation but specifically in regards to OS2 optimization, WSeB, TCP/IP stacks, networking and the famous eServer by IBM using Apache. If you would think virtual machines are in order here ie with OS2 releases, well perhaps it would be better to try AltaVista using more concise inquiry using keywords like Ubunto VirtualMachine, VMware or??? I searched the work place shell and got 8,950,000 hits there and low and behold some were very succintly relevant, woah noah can you see the flood coming? A virtual sunami of porn on this site now-pooh! I think its time me start my own OS2 blog, been thinking about this for sometime now, guess its just time to move on...so I won't have to worry about ... :P :P :P

here's a Free Online Book for you Trekies..http://reslib.com/book/Beyond_Star_Trek This is an unusual book written in memory of Carl Sagan. It may be a test of will here to read the entire book online, nonetheless Lawrence Krauss enumerates the pitfalls of humanity in the Bazaaro-belief system often perpetuated by Hollyweird: that aliens are coming in huge TRIANGULAR SHIPS and NOT in house-fly sized saucers! All his persistant reference to Scientific method does not however explain away the folklore which even today can be found in live site'g reports, not just in the tabloids but on air as well...[uh, Remember ART BELL's COAST TO COAST?] -- as I myself have seen many large "ships" some triangular, others Blimp-like, one I took pictures of on slide-film over North Las Vegas on Nov. 4, 1980, late afternoon-with a pro grade 35mm camera, that object not only blotted out the sun but moved over the entire Valley in such a way as to create a huge lightning-front preceding its coming...no, not rain, but a storm-like event that was to become an upheaval in the local weather pattern for hours the same night, this event forced me to wait out the sudden adverse weather that beset us on a wide scale in LV...and which, BTW, was not forecast - that made the event almost unbelievable, that is, until I spliced the actual slide images together and had them professionally color Xroxed >:(. Now getting back to the book on flying saucers, science affliction, et al...I can tell you that in the Krauss read, the author overlooks much of what is seen in the nite sky by millions today around the world, in fact Jesus was an alien and he still is[walking the earth in ardance], that is why he was crucifield. Have fun with this one (and if you don't believe me, I can send pix of what I found in the temple of Aphrodite on the Is. of Dragonda just off the coast of Western Turkey in 1969 (The one with the Savior with a space ship in the background which has been dated to the time of the first greek settlements where gold was first mined near Edincek, TurKey - that is what is known as Western Turkey to those who have not yet ventured there) I also dug up interesting coins and strange artifacts there which were donated to the Minister of Archeology. But again, I digress, the point is when you merge fact with fiction it becomes a drug and drugs are worthless poisons. God Bless Steve Jobs and the WOZ!

I know you posted this way back when and now it is more than 6 mos. old, but did you ever find this on CD? I have one for sale installed, which I no longer use, on a small HDD (a SEAGATE ST5108-A) pull from an old ATA machine. I have not imaged or copied the drive but I did stick it in a server and it posted fine. U still need this email me at:
the5thqueue@the5thquadrant.com; [[BTW, I no longer use antiques4geeks.com domain]] - as I had to shut it down after 13+ yrs. Since last Nov. I went on to focus on OS2 D.L.s. at www.the5thQuadrant.com which I have owned off and on for almost 15yrs. since 1996, but which never really took off...FYI -I did sell alot of surplus OS2 Apps there at a super low price. Now it is just a D.L. and Free DVD website portal. Thanks In Advance...

Since I rec'd alot of inquiry, it would have been to my debt that WebSphere sealed in the back of the
book I was selling here did not ship out as there were takers a'plenty but no buyers

C:\WebSphere\AppServer\hosts\default_host\admin\web\index.html

this was the link on the ADMIN page for a d.l. of the Admin Client and it goes in a loop, to the admin page itself, not to a d.l.  So, I thoroughly tested this app in spite of the foibles with the admin failure, i.e. up againt my OS2 server Xitami, using both a loop back addr. as well as my IP addr. and others.  I could run Xitami off of a CD and get a response to a homepage with the IP as the address, while using warp4, but not however, using Apache on the installed WebSphere's server, it was oddly just a "no go"...

How could that be? [ur, or so I wondered]. Then on the server admin page [which, as I mentioned is the link
above to the local server], there is also a link to upgrade the WebS admin interface using java, et al. This is an XML Web Administration Tool using a web browser, and it too was a bogus link, also pointing to the link shown above as itself as the target, this shows up as the properties list out of the link. Why? anyone know where I could get the server XML admin tools, hobbs, or? The apache server does not work on the CD once installed -so I'm blitzed by this, if I had sold the book off with the CD I guess this blooper would have come back to bite...Yikes! Since I now have opened the shrink wrap and intsalled it on a TwindoZe machine, just to test its response against a known working server [Xitami for Windows and OS2];- thought I might be able to get off windows entirely using WebSphere/Apache as the ticket. BTW, using my Warp 4 server it was no easy chore getting TCP/IP to work with dial up to test Xitamin for OS2, now I would like to upgrade and use the WebShere ebusiness attributes but can't. Pls. Help me if you can at least point us to a place to go to d.l. something or other that would make the whole thing work right. I have no extra copies of this to give away but even if I did I wouldnt give something away that's useless and a total waste of time, much less put it on display in IBM SHOW? arghhhhh??? It seems to me that IBM did a whole lot of promo on this app and I come to find too little too late that its useless unless of course it could be ported to some open source project, which is a whole legal issue I can't deal with by myself. Touche IBM_tanks fur the memories on the Hudson tech dudes!

Once a base host is assigned, the key is fixed, not for DHCP but for your router's
hardware config, I believe in conjunction with this the options are few for the base
or private network address which have nothing to do with assigning a public address, a pool
of many IP addresses usually comes with each router for public use, the router does not use a
public address at the edge of the network to find its protected MAC addresses through listening,
rather it uses a broadcast address and multi-cast to all points available on the wide area network
and private addresses are therefore not routable-The IP address 192.168.1.1 is the default for
some routers for home broadband routers for the LAN not WLAN. There is not a signal broadcast
using this IP 192.168.1.1, as the named host is a private IP address not routable on the Internet;
nics actually do not listen for connections they just accept what is given by the router or modem

http://compnetworking.about.com/od/routers/g/192_168_1_1_def....

Such options though based on 256 are not at issue as this base host IP is for intranet and do not/cannot
interfere with "finding" your broadcast through the net shell.

eg. say you have a network which one computer sees another computer on a LAN; the router does not broadcast the IP of each local host as the Public address is shared by all computers on the LAN, not the WLAN; though most of us are fine with unmanaged network addresses using defaults set up by hardware
install programs, if you read alot of logs like I do to see what's up you may want to Manage BOTH
public AND private IP addresses on your network ALA SOLARWINDS.COM

There is alot of stuff written about this on blogs at Networking Channels; D.L. Orion IP Address Manager (IPAM) from SolarWinds to get some "hands on" and perhaps some questions will be answered directly
by 'see dick run watch jane...' experiences and often practice makes perfect if done correctly in the
real as opposed to the theoretical world...more info on IP addresses can be had by visiting the
IP Registy here... http://www.arin.net/ another thing you may want to do is manage your DNS locally
using SimpleDNS+ ::)

I've had some success experimentally speaking, with Linux installs as well as os/2 warp4
server on towers, rack servers and laps; I built a VMM virtual machine once that booted
to OS2 from Linux BSD after installing a live boot mgr. I learned the hard way and consequently
stay away from live BIOS and\or changing the BIOS on proprietary machines esp. if the
box/lap machine already had Twindoze installed previous to my somewhat languishing attempts;
[ie to restructure the factory default settings on HP or Compaq installs which they get in bulk
for nothin as ISO files and loaded on HDD by the thousands-not one at a time of course!] -as
MS seems to be cryptic in the take over of the BIOS almost exclusively unless you flash it
on the mobo and start over (clean install including a deep HDD format). Enough rambling here,
point being you may try the thing I found that works usually without a hitch: EasyBCD. I do not
have the link but I am sure you can lycos search it (do not use GOOGLE for this as the data stream
will be seeded and you will get all kinds of pop ups later for having searched this including spyware)
and download the latest version as I have not used this for some time. GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS ALL!

Ya, why waste all the time and energy taking a crowbar or baseball bat to these things-I could
also imagine taking the blue cash chip out instantaneously without the manual labor involved in
my screwdriver_bandaid_hammer_poundit' method I once used for disabling RFID. This way you do
not have to worry 'bout damaging the magnetized strip on your plasticash; my how far we have come...
onward through the EMF! ???

doing a uTube Video..."breakdown [complete!] of IBMshow's old PIII server the M20'
goes into production this wk...in full hack mode...for upload to uTube...before we can
do all of the project, ie accomplish this in toto, the show's new EMF proof trailer is being
TOTALLY revamped... :Pto accomodate the new IBM eserver....more on this topic as we
stitch the pix 2gether one by one-sorry folks we are using Vista Biz for the slideshow...
first the dog [ibm blue mascot] must be groomed up for the occasion,
then the movie! Any ideas as what to call this fiasco?

btw, the bleu healer's name is...?

that's right boys n girls..."BLUE'! the official IBM Show cattle dog-mascot, but don't get
too close there ninjaboy-she BITES...

Ya, I did a little work on this with Caroll Data, they used OS2 for point of sale and in 1998
switched over to Linux for resolving their hard wired network issues, now almost all
point of sale is on a WPA2 WiFi thing, it will read out the terminal name on your receipt,
Caroll Data does not do wifi but the Owner, John Whitfield, who builds the systems is not
going there [WiFi], due to the continuing problems with layers hacking as discussed
recently at Defcon...I think the whole WiFi thing is a dangerous road to go down, my Satellite system gets hacked everyday now with G4 Androids 29 miles downwind...my IP gets HiJacked and my local DNS
poisoned regularly...

...only wish I could convince Hughes to allow my OS/2 system online...that would take
care of most of my problems with the IDS...

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,24288,00.asp is the link for info on this item now
avail. off the shelf from the Intergraph Server at IBMShow...

this is ten yrs old but cost originally a hefty sum so that my Bentley's MicroStation could
render according to state of the art  specifications using 3D engines of the day.  I used this system for years on several large projects: airports, malls, schools, machine rooms and the like, works great if you happen
to have an older AGP 1.x slot available and can find the special drivers which may still be
avail. for specail accelerated 3D Graphics applications...

$34 including shipping to the lower 48 thx for lookin'

XenClient, yes the primo VM that is ahead of the curve on the hard metal project, perhaps
we will
wait and see which is the best way to go, as far as how prevelant the adopters become and
which product prevails, VMware may have to yield in this ring... an opt out in the fight to gain
the biggest market share of hardware virtualisation, perhaps Chrome will be the wave of the future
but I just hope the OS/2 org project will progress as an open OS standard over and above IBM's linux commitment.
.. ???

more on VM here [an olde link]...http://www.sourcefire.com/solutions/virtualization/

this is a Pro release on CD. It reads:
top to bottom...

PARTNER WORLD
IBM Release 2 Volume 4
Disc P12
September 2000

Professional
...IBM Developer ...toolbox...
POWER your solutions
OS/2 Warp Version 4

CV6YWNA

this disk ships with: 'wireless solutions tools CD Disc P57 April 2001
these are hot off of the multi-layered IBM Show BookShelf under glass that is...
$40 -two disks sold as is in caddys
S&H is $4 inc. ins. using media mail - USPS only

as of this writing-Aug 18-2010
I added two more Pro DEV Series CDs I purchased on ebay way back before
Fleabay became the number one AMAZON clone...Post Capitalist retail hell Portal...
in addition to the aforementioned disks P12 & P57 these are:

disk P48 Internet tools for OS/2 and...
disk P58 Java, XML and wireless solutions tools

BTW these are additional releases not copies of the IBM DeveloperToolbox series
(formerly IBM Developer Connection Devtool releases for Warpers); all four disks will be shipped in one jewelbox containing the four CDs listed here. One more note: the Warp 4 release on CD has no index file.
Most releases in this series back then had NO autoplay so you load the CD in your
tray -manually open the drive and click on the index.htm file to open it so as to read
about the release....presumably these all came to the DEV user as a subscription service.
How many of these released=anyone's guess! -the PRO DEV site at IBM went
belly up on Dec 31, 2006 [as did Warp 4.51 support], leaving us all in the lurch...
however, there is still yet another Dev site at IBM I belong to just for the fun of it -
you could join in at their website, [link coming when I find it!!!] - register there just
for the cause? -also there is Hobbes for stuff like blue CAD whatever.
So, the upshot is you can get four PRO DEV Apps; Issues: P12, P48, P57, P58 hey I will even thow in a sealed
C++ for OS/2 should you ask[see post script of previous ad for same on this market-
place*

...avoir

*VAC++ I have for sale may not work for OS2 Warp 4, or Warp 4 Server, unless
you have certain fixpaks installed on your OS. The last post on this comes from
the readme file inside the WARP4 CD support pkg...

the link provided in that file...

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/visualagecpp/fixes/v30os2/english-us/warp4/
readme.txt is more current than the readme file on the Warp4 CD and presumably
you can have all the fixpaks required or (later ones even, than what is listed in the
above linked file from IBM...surprised to see that the date on this folder was 11+25+06
- well after support ended, officially that is, now since I provided this info, if you want
to use the VAC++ for OS2 Warp 4 [both are for sale here-now]; pls' take the time to
make sure that you have to fixpaks loaded...readme fill refered to here is dated 8+30+96.
Some customer support eh??? Anywho its good to know bigblue is still on the schtick! :-*

just dbl click on the image below to enlarge...thanks! MZ
