Hardware / Re: LVM-less USB MSDs?

There is solutions ! But I'm sure none You wouldn't like.
Downgrade your eCS/OS/2 to pre lvm version, like old good 4.52. Everything flash-y will work much better, (Danis drivers'N'filters 4ever!) except older sticks or devices wich use FAT16, FAT16B and such.
If You need to just pass data, burn CD/DVD, or use external HDD (they act much better, but not try with extra large ones), or resize partitions on existing drives to create FAT32 and pass data trough them.
If You need to save remains of dead system, I remember old versions of Knoppix can read hpfs. JFS in eCS version is also posible to read, but with lot of terminal typing with administrator privilegies. Wich is boring and to geek-y... O:)

Good luck and welcome to light side of the Force. ;))))

One of main reasons I migrate.  Look at this from brighter side, noone can steal data from Your OS/2 computer on to flash stick like in movies always do, with those stupid other OSes.  :D

The next release will be 0.0.5, with an earliest projected release date being not known.

Well, with just one programer writing code, I will be to old when osFree reach 0.0.12 version.  (OOREXX) :(

Koja verzija VLC-a ?  Zadnje sto sam probao kod mene nije radilo ?  Inace pod Linuxima iskljucivo njega koristim u zadnje vreme. :)

And also... Hola ! For spanish and portugals friends. There isn't realy mather title, we just joined here from ex-Yu countries for mostly unofficial chat on local languages. It is probably moderator made mistake. :) You are welcome too, but then wee must switch to english, as other languages at least me do not know. :)

BUT...if people have the idea of something like a tablet, then bluetooth is a must. I know that is not an easy thing but the reality is that bluetooth is used a lot in the mobile world.

It is not must just for tablet... If You have any of mobile devices, tablet, smartphone, phone_with_camera, camera with bluetooth, it is normaly that You offten have need to exchange files like documents, pictures, music,... between Your /2 device and mobile device. And even for transfer files from one computer to another is (desktop to laptop f.e.) very usable, no need for floppy, stick, external disk, CD, DVD, storage cards, network, internet, email... :)

And now Young people have in average atleast two mobile devices in hands. :)

To Blonde Guy:
Im satisfied how BT works under Linux. Ubuntu 9.04-10.10.

So, back to sit and wait... one day we will have perfect /2 / eCS with every feature, even with bluetooth included.  8)

OK, i must agree that flash is very important, even my both childern use earlier release of flash almost every day -flash games are almost only fresh games in /2 world. :)

From one other thread:

"Quote
I mainly looking if the new eCS offers/has Bluetooth support.

Unfortunately, no. Bluetooth is one of the things on the wish list, but nobody has taken enough interest in it to create the appropriate driver(s). Other things are far more important, and there are not enough qualified programers to go around. "

Please tell me what are those far more important things that eCS/OS/2 user needs ?  I personally think that bluetooth support is one of essentially needful things.
Even more than bluetooth driver, IMHO there is urgent need to fix LVM feature of recognising partitions, so any flash stick/external drive (phones, cameras, players) can be used normaly without 'special preparing for LVM'. :)

And there is balance and strategic planing... I as not-programer believe that developing bluetooth driver, and/or fixing LVM is much more easyer and need less programer resource engagement than for example porting Java, fixing kernal, developing Flash 10, and so on... while on other side we can get more interest for new users.

Thanks for the tip with USBCFG, Amouse is already installed, same hard disk unchanged is connected to new motherboard, and same mouse was work on previous system. But looks like USB hardware is to different.

PROBLEM SOLVED: I've forgot that computer may have more than one controler of same type wich USBCFG on very simple way can show.  ::)
thanks Doug !  :D

Forgot to mention that USB keyboard work OK, and mouse is tested on other computer. So it may be that controlor and USB drivers are OK, maybe is amouse make problems ?

Hardware / New MOBO, USB problem
2010.11.20, 23:04:45
I replace moterboard and CPU with newer ones, and everything else work great except USB mouse .  I know that there are 3 type of controllers, UHCI, OHCI and one more, but how to manually install those drivers, putting them in config sys doesn't made my mouse work.  Are there some more dependant files except UHCI, OHCI and one more .sys ??
Any suggestion will be helpfull.   ???

It may happend that this is HDD error related issue, You may try to replace old cmd.exe and dlls that are related from anoter OS/2 that has no such problems (You may backup original ones before replacing `em). Or from backup, if it is available. Look does exist anything in NOWHERE directory on root drive.
This is a long shot, usually if this is problem, system does not work good for 3 weeks. I was have similar problem, OS/2 works good some time, then pop up weird errors, fixing, again work good for some time... solved with replacing HDD with new one.
If You can afford, try immediately with new drive.

Hardware / Re: OpenGL ddk

This is to far optimistic. How can I trying to convince people to use /2 ?
First, they need to rob museum to got hardware that will working.
Second, they need to raise from average_idiot_home_user level just to install damn' thing.
Third, they need to pay for not just OS it self (even old one W4), they need to pay even for OOo which is on all other platform free program.
Then, there will me more problems, when buy new hdd larger than 500 Mb, when try to use printer wich is not from museum, when try to copy data from ordinary flash stick, to watch videos from Youtube, when try to backup data from smartphone...

Even I am a fanatic OS/2 user, I do not want to slipped other people to. There is alternatives, free of charge, wich isn't beautiful like /2, but work with any hardwer, and work with much less problems and faster.  :'(

Man, I believe most members on OS/2 community are now crossing their fingers, hoping for any development

I do not want to be rude, but I do not believe that Demetrious can do that. Anyway, if hi is "the One", will this bring any improvement to existing applications, or we must wait to (no)one develop new apps which will be able to use this... and after all that... there is bunch of other problems/2 that wait for years to be fixed. Being /2 user so many years just lead to hmmmm... distrust ? that there is future for anything relative to /2 and new hardware in same sentence.   :'(

Demetrious, do not think that this text is offensive in any way, I'm really sorry that I can not help in any way, because my knowledge of programing is just at same level as my knowing knitting and crocheting.  :-\
