I don't know status of pre-released version of Quick Time for OS/2.As I know that never became stable and commercial program, isn't it? I saw on hobbes and maybe os2site it for download? Yeah, yeah I know that's abandonware but that's not cathegory it can only be easiest freeware, shareware, commercial or free with source code.

Hi people
I read on some site that Microsoft released on printed material on review, magazine or user manual source code for MS-DOS 3.0.I was shocked!  :o That was the legal way how to see code of that DOS written in assembler. How no one to now didn't scanned own book and put on web under pdf format I don't know.Maybe Microsoft liquidated those people  :D theory of conspiracy  8)

Open Bounties / Re: MediaCoder port

Hi Martin,
which open source type of license was Mediacoder before developers closed its source. I don't know whole situation but if we have source code of open source version under valid license we can continue it maybe under different name.Caldera OpenDOS 7.01 was open source and later Caldera closed it source but developers continue to developing 7.01 version and that DOS is still ''alive''.
I know that is just technically and legal stuff but if we make decision to continue developing of it, must be watch on everything carefully.

Similar situation as some programmers had with BeOS Dan0. Code of Dan0 ''leaked'', Be Inc. closed, and some people made own distributions, based on Dan0's modifications. In that time c.holder was Palm Source and it was very indifference (like IBM now) very hard to say YES or NO in written form, and many interpreted as YES I can make freeware distribution, and someone had really permission from Palm Source but verbal, and in 2007 holder became ACCESS who clearly said NO YOU CAN'T. Unclearly still stayed what with unmodified version of Dan0 who received permission of Palm Source for educational purposes. Many said that deal is still current.

So people from OS/4 team, try permission from IBM for educational necessary modification of OS/2 kernel as OS/4 and other stuff to stayed under other valid licenses.

While not is out in the public. One thing that has improved and continues research is the ACPI section.
But also research in how to boot eCS from an GPT partition is progressing.

I don't think IBM has lost the sources. I know of one customer Mensys did not get that had a support contract with IBM then ran upto 2013 or 2014. So the must have source code somewhere.

Roderick
I am agree with that. This story ''we lost source code, blah, blah'' is for little children. What's for best team of programers form world to disassemble, decode or what of binary version of source code.So they don't have interest to do that.Time when they were selling OS/2 is past and that's end.I think OS/2 is one of definitely dead systems (like BeOS,MS DOS and others)...Yes existed open source clones, which can run compatible software, but they are not naturally closed source OSes from big companies...

Does anyone know if there is an OS/2 program than can do any or all of the following?

Read, Write, and/or create Vector Graphics?

Thanks.

I know 2,but both historical, with historical file formats, CorelDRAW and Tiger.I think both are commercial.

Microsoft Word for DOS became freeware. IBM PC DOS 2000 Chinese edition was available on IBM server for free download for unknown reason long time, but from unknown reason again they (IBM) removed it, so license of that system is big symbol ? ,who downloaded it in that time, have free legal version, others not  ;D
Also, I found very interesting brazilian word processor from 80's and it works fine and with .doc files.

Hi Mr Hecom  ;D

I remembered that downloaded before some years from official site of Bochs emulator in part of Image disc files ISO image of OS/2 Warp 3 which was bootable and had only command line interface. My fault I lost it and when I try again on their site, it disappeared as some more images of closed source systems...

Hi I know that is illegal, but just for historical knowing were there any fake versions of OS/2 or derivatives as Windows 2.9 and MicroXP for Windows, PhOS and ZETA for BeOS, DR-DOS 8.0,8.1 for DR-DOS 7.3... They were illegal, but many people know for them ???

Not sure, but maybe the same code as for Win,Linux,Mac versions...
But if it's under (L)GPL License maybe it could copying from someone who bought it for non-commercial use? Isn't it? Maybe that man is fool if copy it to you because he paid for it, but he (maybe) can do it if it's under non-modified free open source license (GPL,BSD...)...My opinion...
