Hi,

still take some time to investigate in this project. While I am building a special Warp 4 BootCD for the Slate I would like to ask the following:

- as it seems that the boot process stops for eCS 2.1 because of the boot logo I would like to open the ecs 2.1 CD 1 iso to disable the OS2LOGO file be renaming and then "close" the iso and burn it on CD so that the Boot splash screen will not appear.

-> what is the best way to do this?
-> where is the file located in the iso - do I have to extract it somewhere? If - how?

Thanks!

Hi Sigurd,

you can disable the OS2LOGO from the preboot menu, use the 'eComStation BOOT OPTIONS: Miscellaneous' screen -> 'Do not display bootlogo' checkmark.

Joachim

RavenLite runs also fine, but without ripping CD's and without record function because javasound seems not implemented in Open JDK v6.0ga.

Raven Lite is a free software program that lets users record, save, and visualize sounds as spectrograms and waveforms. Raven Lite is intended for students, educators, and hobbyists, and can be used for learning about sounds, as an aid in birdsong recognition ,and in musical instruction. Please read  http://help.ravensoundsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=844 first!

Hi Joop,

nice job on this product. However, as far as I can tell, JavaSound *is* actually implemented, see for example http://svn.netlabs.org/java/ticket/67

Hi All

I'm sure this will appeal to some people but it does not get me excited in any way.

Maybe I'm missing something here but it looks like a collection of applets cluttering up the desktop.

Pete

One thing you might have missed is that the kludget engine actually supports Mac OS X widgets. There are a *lot* of them and obviously not all of them are all that useful, but there are plenty around that are nice to have. Nothing critical or essential, but nice nonetheless.
See http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/ for an overview.

Hello Martin,

is this (kludget port) still under development?

Thanks,

Rexx / Re: Detecting french accents

That's a good point, you could use the Translate command to replace the accented characters with non-accented ones, that would work too.  But I'm still in the situation where I need to figure out how to get REXX to recognize those characters.  I'm not sure how to have REXX identify them in the code.

Depending on the codepage you can just 'use' them. See the attached sample scripts, one can translate from and to html entities, the other upper/lowercase. The caveat is that this probably only works in the proper codepage. But istr this can be set in REXX too.

It seems as though I've accidentally wrote a few lines of code that render in a similar fashion to how Direct3D renders. Instead of deleting the code, I've decided to pursue it a little. Since GL/2 has an architecture that's mildly modular, I should be able to add D3D support without disrupting the rest of the framework & with using the same hardware drivers. More to follow!

Wow, that's accidentally very cool!

Here it is a screenshot of Kludgets port.
http://kludgets.com/

Wow! That is cool! It is not listed under the qt-apps page at netlabs (yet) - where to find it?
We only seem to miss alpha-channel/transparency support on the desktop.

Nice, thanks!

I just noticed that the OpenGL logo is on the GL/2 page. It must be taken down, since neither myself or anyone else have an OpenGL commercial license. Without the commercial license, we are not allowed to use the OpenGL branding.

Hm, my fault - I submitted it to Adrian, didn't realize it was covered by whichever license. I'll notify him it has to be changed.

Sorry,

It would be good to get the problems fixed, but I am suspicious that it might be the JAVA programs themselves that are at fault.

This is probably not true, most of the SMP problems are caused by Odin. They are under investigation and should be resolved, fixing Flash 10 stability issues as well. Have a look at http://svn.netlabs.org/odin32/search?q=smp if you're interested.

Well, Dia is more conform about what I'm looking for.

How about this Qt app:

You could request Elbert to port it for you :)

Gizmag. http://www.gizmag.com/chippc-plug-pc-low-power-thin-client-solution/17345/
Since it is embedded, would it make it difficult or impossible to use eCS with it?  ???
It is a really small computer.   8)

Yes, it is small. It is also running on a non-intel (like) CPU:
Within its black and silver enclosure sits a 528 MHz RMI 1250 RISC processor
So forget about running eCS on it. Atom based PC's on the other had are pretty well supported ;)

So, in trying to collect some more compatibility information on servers and SCSI cards and such, I keep running into various actual IBM server PDFs that claim the servers are compatible with OS/2 Warp Server for e-Business v5.0
I wish I knew what they knew that I don't...  ;)

Hi Robert,

Afaik WSeB v5.0 is simply Aurora CP2 (WSeB 4.52)

QuoteRaising a BUG in the eComStation BUG tracker is not helpful here as nobody is going to look at it.

I suggest that since the package specifically says to post results at the eCS bug tracker, that Lars had better go there to look. I, personally, don't follow the comp.os.os2.misc news group.

Joachim, I would suggest that you make sure that it happens.

Sure, I will notify Lars. He actually is a frequent visitor of the bugtracker so I don't really see a problem in using it for bugreports on these drivers, even if they're not mature yet.

Thanks,

Joachim
