General Discussion / booting
2010.02.14, 01:33:42
Hello all
Its been a long time since I've checked out this site, the reason I switched to Mac.
Sorry, but found myself spending more time getting the computer to run then actually
using anything, and I was an os2 user since 1991.
I still wish this community well.
Now for my question...I am building a hackentosh, yes  mac running on a (pc)
but when I started up my old os2 machine  I could just not wipe the hd clean to
start over, So does anyone know if I can make a boot partition for apple so
I can at least look at os2 now eCS? BTW  the current ver on my tower is
eCS 2 beta 4,
what is the current state of eCS, do they have a unified dvd writer now
how about playback
I use "vuze, limewire" a lot, I use Toast 10 for burning
is there dl support in eCS?
luckly I have another tower, that I was going to run linux on, but never liked the
feel of linux,  and os2 was always so intuitive to use, from day one..
even in some cases I like it better the  os X   right now on running
os 10.6.2   Snow Leopard, which is very solid..
Thanks for any assistance
Best
Dave
ps: I have never used snooze (ms)
and never will

OK in the end I did get the problem fixed. I don't understand it all, but I did look at the os2 usb web page
and downloaded a (newer) usbuhci driver...rebooted and everything is fine now..
thanks for the interest in my problem..

USB / Re: usb irq conflict
2007.06.09, 06:13:58
Hello, thanks for the info
Under eCS 1.2 did not have this problem
in beta 4  I first had a shared  irq with my sound blaster
so I disabled it in the config.sys file, then on reboot I had usb in the usb manager
after doing some reading and looking I saw that there are those newer pciiq in the bios
so I started to assign some IRQ to each device...none of these seem to work as the
EHCI controller is using IRQ 3, and I have a usb\bluetooth installed on it...I also
connected my printer to the usb 2.0 but still none of the usb devices is showing...
It could be somthing else, but I have no idea.
any further suggestions.

USB / usb irq conflict
2007.06.07, 23:08:48
Hello all...
in a previous message I refered to the "bluetooth" tech...
in my case I think that since bluetooth is on the backside of the usb adapter which is
reconized by eCS then talking with any usb device should be possible as long as there
is a driver. I have an espons C80 pringer and a Epson 2400 scanner. Now
in eCS 1.2 I had no problems with USB, but in eCS 20 beta 4, I have an IRQ conflict
the Danis506 driver is using IRQ 11, and so are the UHCI compliant USB host controller.
Is there a way of forceing either of the devices to use another IRQ.. I have tried
bios setting, with not good result. I am not using IRQ 7.

Chris, thanks.
Sorry I'm an (end user). even though I've never run windows, and I'm not new to os/2\eCS, I really lack
the knowledge that the hard core OS/2 lovers have.
here are two or three things I do notice about the libpath and path..
I see  a lot of this ( C:\;  or ;.;), also the gcc.dll in the libpath...Now I know from another person that
the libpath should not have a named file in it..so I am told.
the path should   I have no  Java 1.1.8 folder on  my system, don't think I installed it
when I did the original install.. I did install innotek, but was having trouble with some java   script
websites, so I bought the Golden Code version 1.4.1.. I did uninstall the innotek version.
I do have a few references to java 11 and its referenced many times in the "Classpath"
Except for 1 or 2 occurences  Golden Code says to just unzip the program  into a folder. and thats
all that is needed.
I'll be checking and try to remove unwanted  paths and libs see if that helps..
Thanks again

Thanks guys.. I'm going to check that .ini file  I noticed this happen when I tried to update the warpin program...
I have tried to uninstall it 2 or 3 times, so we'll see
I am not running the innotek rt, I'm using Golden Code which was working fine until.
My (java -version) shows java 1.1.8   I  have sent an email to GC. first time this has been a problem.
thanks

has anyone run across bluetooth support in eCS...
I'm thinking of  using bluetooth to connect my Mac laptop to the  printer and scanner using bluetooth\usb adapter

Applications / Warpin and java programs
2007.05.22, 07:27:52
this is two separate questions..
1. I've installed Warpin 1.0.15, but it will not open..I uninstalled it and installed ver 1.0.14, but still it will not open
(warpin.exe).. Nor will any wpi pacages open..this is a recent occurance.

2. I have some java programs, that use to work...LimeWire, Artofillusion, etc:   Now none of them open.

is there some way of testing what is going wrong or am I up the  creak without the paddle.
Best.
PS. I don't know what might have caused this, I have made no major changes to my system, except in the case
of Java I did reinstall the innotek runtime...and thats when my java programs stopped working.
