Internet / Wordpress or Joomla ?
« on: 2010.10.16, 20:18:34 »
I was thinking about moving my web site over to Wordpress or Joomla.

Here is the Wordpress example:

However I was leaning toward Joomla, does anyone have experience with Joomla???

Thanks,

Hi!

Are you sure about your disk layout ? something is missing

Windows 7 uses 2 partitions (one with 4GB and the second which is C: (win7))
I didn't find the 4GB partition into your layout.

Yes, the layout is correct for Windows 7. I thought the same thing about the two partitions for Windows 7, but you can also use one partition only.

How to Avoid 200MB Hidden System Partition:
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/01/09/how-to-avoid-200mb-hidden-system-partition-from-been-created-during-windows-7-installation/

Does anyone know if eCs 2.0 will install after a 200Gb partition (primary)?

I believe the limit for (boot partitions) Win 7 is < 512Gb and Linux is < 137 Gb, what the limit for eComStation?

I have successfully installed a triple-boot system, however I have a couple of questions. First I know that you have to partition the entire drive from eCS. Here's my disk layout.

eCom 2.0 2Gb                     Primary - JFS
eCom 2.0 Maintenance 2Gb    Primary - JFS
Windows 7 Ultimate 200Gb     Primary - NTFS

eCs Data 500Gb                  Logical - JFS
Linux Root 50Gb                  Logical - ext 4
Linux Home 100Gb               Logical - ext 4
Linux Swap 10Gb               Logical - swap

Q1) I remember reading that Win7 should be installed first. Is there any reason for that? The above layout is working for me, however I have to use Grub as my boot loader.

Q2) Where can the boot partition for eCS be located(primary)? If I have a 200GB Windows 7 as the first primary partition. Can I have a eCs primary partition after that?

Q3) Can the Boot Manager boot a logical Linux partition above a certain Gb limit?

Q4) The above layout works. however its not the best way (using Grub), any suggestion ??????

I was thinking about this disk layout.

eCom 2.0 (JFS) 2Gb              Primary
OpenSuse 11.3 (root) 50Gb    Primary
Windows 7 Ultimate 200Gb     Primary

eCs Data (JFS) 500Gb           Logical
Unix_Os2 (JFS-U:) 100Gb      Logical
Linux Home 100Gb                Logical
Linux Swap 10Gb                  Logical

Thanks,

sXwamp,

I just installed Warpvision and I am playing a DVD movie, I followed your instuctions:

1) In the Video tab settings of WarpVision, select SNAP overlay.

2) Restart WarpVision and start a divx video or (anything)

It does not lock up on my computer, everything is running great for this.

Did you try moving the video out window around the screen?

What version of Warpvision are you using and what is your screen resolution and color set at?

Is anyone else having problems with Firefox sync besides me? My windows machines are syncing but eCS is not, all my settings seem correct so I have no idea, I log on but I get an erroir when syncing (just says it cant).

Thanks!

Try SyncPlaces

Synchronizes your bookmarks, passwords and password exceptions between browsers. Uses your own (or third party) web or ftp server so you have complete control and privacy.

Hi Greggory

What is the purpose of the QRYMMCD.EXE demon? - I'd just like to know before considering REMming that line.

Regards

Pete

It has to do with the Audio CD.

I haven't missed anything after taking it out of my CONFIG.SYS.   I would recommend trying it, because it solved my problems and I now have a pretty stable system now!  All I know that it works for some and doesn't work for others, also Roderick Klein recommended it first.

Hi Greggory

....It does improve on the builds supplied with eCS2.0GA - only takes 3 attempts to boot without looping sounds here whereas with the eCS2.0GA versions system sounds had to be turned off to avoid the problem - but is still not as good as the builds I am using which rarely have the looping sound problem.....

Thanks

Pete

Trying taking out the QRYMMCD.EXE demon from the config.sys and reboot.  I was lucky that it was the cause of my looping problem not had a problem since.

Hi Greggory

I take that vlc delivers audio with the video on your system?

When I installed vlc a week or 2 ago it seemed to work fine but now, without changing any settings, I cannot get any audio from vlc.

Any configuration tips to resolve this?

Regards

Pete

I'm running eCS 2.0GA with default uniaud16.sys and Paul's uniaud32.sys 1.9.22.   I had the same problem when I first installed VLC, but under preferences=>Audio , I changed the output to Simple DirectMedia Layer audio output and that got the sound working for me! Note: quit and restart VLC each time  you change the audio options.

Hope this helps!

What about assigning them to a virtual drive, is that possible???

I just got my new video card last night (x850 pro with 256 megs of ram)

No official testing yet, but I can tell a noticeable speed up of eCS.

SNAP found the card with no problem and the monitor also! The only issues on that side is that SNAP only sees 128 megs of ram on the card. Not a big deal really.

A big problem is what sXwamp said, seems that I now cannot open windows of DOS and Win311...that is a major suck. Full screen is fine.

I will be playing with it and will updated everyone, if anyone has ideas what I can do on the windows 311/dos side I am all ears

Could you try WarpVision and Snap Overlay for me,  I would like to know if this is only happening to me.

1) In the Video tab settings of WarpVision, select SNAP overlay.

2) Restart WarpVision and start a divx video or (anything)

3) LEFT click on the video output window and move it around, should have hard lockup

Thanks,

Greggory

Thank you KO Myung-Hun,

VLC media player v1.0.5 for OS/2 Beta 1 The cross-platform open-source multimedia framework, player and server VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player and multimedia framework capable of reading most audio and video formats (MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, DivX, MPEG-1, mp3, ogg, aac ...) as well as DVDs, Audio CDs VCDs, and various streaming protocols.

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/h-search.php?key=lc-1.0.5-beta1&pushbutton=Search

The streaming is better than WarpVision and mPlayer for me, but it does get out up snyc sometimes. It's only in beta, but I think it will definitely be better than WarpVision and mPlayer, any thoughts?

I'm getting an extra pay check on the first, is anyone willing to match $50 USD for KO Myung-Hun's hard work on VLC ???

I just want something fast in eCS as well as stable. It was annoying that DOS and Win3.11 could not be brought up in a window with Panorama.

Sorry, that's another thing that I forgot to add in about the aTI x850 PE, the DOS and Win3.11 windows sessions do not work for either.

Hi sXwamp

I'm using an ATI X800 which seems to be a close relative of the X850.

Under direction from KO Myung-Hun I did some testing awhile back, 3 months maybe, of mplayer and different video configuration options to try to ascertain why the SNAP option gave "jerky" playback on my system. The result was that the uniaud driver in use was the cause - I'm using uniaud32_1.9.2 and uniaud16 from 114rc6. Sadly later uniaud drivers either do not work - or not as well as the combination in use.

Apart from the slightly "jerky" playback mplayer works fine with kva:snap, no "lockups".

Which uniaud drivers are you using? - and what audio chipset (audio and mixer details) is involved?

Regards

Pete

I get "jerky" playback too with kva:snap (lockups some times) and if you move the video screen output (snap) from WarpVision results in a hard lockup.

I'm using Paul's 1.9.22 uniaud32.sys and 1.1.4RC6 - uniaud16.sys the only combo that works with (eCom 2.0 GA) mPlayer and Warpvision. My onboard sound is HDA Intel /w a realtek ALC888B and sound works great, minus the desktop sounds (disabled).

Apart from the slightly "jerky" playback mplayer works fine with kva:snap, no "lockups".

My point is that with a ATI 9200-9800 series card with WarpOverlay works better for me, then SNAP overlay. I do not accept "jerky" playback and hard locks as acceptable (SNAP overlay).  I just know that when using Warp Overlay, I do not have to worry about anything it just works.

Have you try WarpVision with SNAP selected on the VIDEO screen option, then start a video  and LEFT click on the video output and move it around the screen (hard lockup). I know with the 9200, 9800 and x850 all result with hardlockups (WarpVision). Warpvision maybe dead, but it is still better then mPlayer for somethings (Network drives, all my movies are on a remote drive).

Also, WarpVision - Warp Overlay and a Hauppage WinCast PCI (878 chipset) tuner (North America) gives an incredible picture for the TV output.  I mean it is night and day comparisons (I would pay 2-300 for an updated app its that good), when using the same card on Windows XP or EmperoarTV. Well, actually I have not tried EmperoarTV with WarpOverlay yet, so that's not a far comparison.

Have you tried VLC yet? It's pretty nice for an alpha/beta so far!

I have a ATI x850 PE and would trade it for a ATI 9800 XT AGP 256MB in a second, I plan on buying one on ebay right now.
