It is one of the tenets of Social Conditioning being specifically designed to cut out that part of you. Those who study history uncover it often, as they page back into the past. Also, many psychology books have been written on just this topic.
Consider yourself lucky that you are of the very few who still retain some of that instinct. Care for it, fan it to life and, in turn, it will help take care of you as it is supposed to do.

Secondly, FF and IFE don't play nice in Os/2, again a deterrent to ever doing critical work in a broswer. Further that with my disdain for anything that requires me to be ON-LINE to do work, and you have a fairly rounded out idea of why I don't stand for the "network as the computer" approach. I need a desktop, I demand local applications!
This is a good thing.
