Rexx / Re: Install MPlayer
2008.05.01, 23:13:53
I am a know-little, so I appreciate all the help everyone provides.  I am trying to install mplayer.  I have unzipped it to g:\mplayer, and unzipped the win codecs.  I have saved the rex file to disk, and named it mplayer.rex in g:\mplayer.  Is that okay?  I haven't edited config.sys yet - is the rex file run before or afetr, and how is it run?

What files does mplayer display, and how do I set up MPC to view them?  If I missed any of this in the how to file, please let me know and I'll look harder.  I havee a concentration problem, so doing and learning things is difficult for me.

Thanks for providing the app, the instructions, and the help.

I signed.  I'd love more plugins for eCS.  We have up-to-date browsers, thanks to the greatly appreciated work of the folks who provide them for us - we should have plugins to use with them.

This is probably caused by having "extended system sounds" turned on in the XWorkplace, setup, features, general feartues tab. With this turned on you should also get a vocal message when shutting down. If you don't like the "bep" unmark it.
  Hope this solved you're problem.

Thank you.  This seems to have stopped the beep.  What do I lose by turning off "Extended System Sounds," besides the beep?

I never got a vocal message when I shut down.

Applications / tiny beep

I've asked this in comp.os.os2.misc newsgroup, also, but in case someone is here who doesn't read the newsgroups, I  posted this here, also.

I'm using eCS 1.2R.  I have, among other apps,  WPSWizard and xCenter 1.07  (updated over eCenter, per Herbert Rosenau's instructions in the FidoNet OS/2 echo when I asked about xCentter vs. eCenter.)  Whenever I click on a desktop object or object in a folder, I hear a tiny beep.  I have no idea why, and nobody has been able to deduce why yet (I got several replies, which I appreciated.)  Checkini and Cleanini have been run, and the beep remains.  There must be some reason for it.

Thanks for reading,

Alan

Mr. Limited Knowledge here installed AudioCDCreator 0.56, but I didn't know, among other things, wha driver to select for my DVD drive, which is an IDE NEC 3504.  There was no driver listed for it in the drivers list, nor a generic IDE driver.  Any idea what I should select?

Also, can this, or CDRecord alone, copy such things as an MRI on CD?  I also have plain CD drive (just read) -- can a CD be placed in there and copied to a blank in the DVD drive?  What would I need to do to copy a DVD?

Thanks as always for any help.

Alan
